Let's Make It (Audio Only) - Tech-zen.tv

Summary: Let's Make It is a show that is all about making things, in particular electronic things. During this show we will be using things like Arduinos, PIC chips and Raspberry Pie's to make all kinds of electronic gadgets. We are making these gadgets to learn how they work. Not technical, not to worry, we are going to start really simple and teach you as we go along. All it requires is a desire to want to learn some programming and electronics. This show is hosted by Mike Myers of Genius Idea Studio. Mike has many years of designing hardware and developing software for the hardware. If you have ever followed the Maker Community then this show is for you. Want to learn some basic programming and electronics? This is the show to get you started.

Arduino Touch Screen and More Pixel Colors - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:41:53

This week we show you and LED strip version of the same chip we showed you last week that is a self contained RGB shift register. And, we do a viewer request, touch screens on an Arduino.

 Arduino’s and GPS tracking Episode - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:38:12

This week we look at an easy GPS tracking unit using an Arduino and GPS shield.

Controlling Things Over The Web With Arduino - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:40:25

This week we show you how you can control an LED, an RGB LED and a Servo from a web interface on an Arduino. We are continuing down the the path we started in Episode 49 with the web server on the arduino.

Arduino Using an SD Card and Digital Signage On a Raspberry Pi - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:23:51

This week we show you how to use an sd card with an arduino to log data. We also show you how read a file on the sd card, manipulate files and get details like card size, type and directory of files. In our second segment we show you how to turn a raspberry pi into a digital signage device. All for nothing more than the cost of the raspberry pi.

 Memory Management And A Web Server With Arduino - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:09:06

This week mike survives a technology meltdown to bring some personal experiences with memory management on the Arduino, he thinks you will be surprised about how little memory there is in your sketch for the Arduino. Then Mike builds a web server on an Arduino than can both take in data and put out data. Learn how to make your remote sensors easy to communicate with.

 The 555 Timer Chip - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:47:23

This week Bob shows you the well known utility timer chip, the 555. He demonstrates both the Monostable and Astable modes as well some additional options.

 Technology Christmas - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:09:06

This week we are not going to talk about much of anything (on purpose), just preparing for the Christmas season. We will review some of 2013 and talk about what is coming up in 2014.

Ethernet And OSC On An Arduino - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 01:11:52

This week we change studios and show you how to use either an Ethernet shield or Ethernet Arduino to connect to the network. We then take it one step further and show you how to use the new found connectivity to communicate using the Open Sound Control protocol (OSC) to mute channels on a sound board over the ethernet connection.

 The Thanksgiving Episode - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:18:21

This week is the Thanksgiving episode, we just have updates this week, no real projects to cover but lots of updates.

LED Light Strips and the Arduino - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:38:03

As Christmas is coming near and the time for lights for the holidays are coming close. We look at how to control an entire 50ft roll of the RGB LED strips using an Arduino. It is much easier than you probably think.

Remembering Arduino Settings By Using The EEPROM - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:34:43

This week we show you how to store data in the Arduino EEPROM so that it is available after the Arduino loses power and restarts. We show you how to write to the EEPROM and then how to read it back later.

 Countdown Timer With An Arduino - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:33:07

This week we create a countdown timer that can control a relay. The time is entered via a keypad and an LCD display is used for feedback and programming. We also talk about why Mike is not shaving for the month of November, it is MoVember. Also, how bad his face is going to get by the end of the month. No Laughing please.... :)

 The RainbowDuino Woes - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:43:43

This week we discuss some viewer emails, talk about the Udoo that mike got this week. Then Bob shows us the rainbowduino from Seeed Studio and talks about some of the problems he has had and also some of the things that he has still not gotten to work.

 Smart Buttons In Action - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:41:58

This week we take one of the NKK Smart Switches we showed you last week and make it do stuff. Making it work is pretty simple, we show you just how simple in this video. We also take a look at the Arduino Due and Arduino Ethernet. Also, an update on the Udoo. It is shipping and mine should be here soon.

 NKK SmartSwitches and a Script Scroller - Tech-Zen.tv | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:36:51

This week we show you the different options that are available for the NKK Smart Switches. We have all of the different versions that are available to purchase and show you each and describe a little about each. We also show you a controller that was built over the weekend to control a script scroller for a live show Mike did the sound engineering for. I used 2 of the NKK lighted switches that we are using in our switcher. We also go back a few episodes to when we made an Arduino Leonardo emulate a keyboard and a mouse.
