I am a recent college grad and have had a job in finance for about a year.  However I am interested in switching my career over to law enforcement.  I have no prior military experience. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER!!!! Training Trick: Howdy Greg, Thanks for responding a few episodes back regarding San Joaquin CCW costs. I looked into it, it looks like the filing fee is $19, but of course we gotta get the background checks and all that good stuff for the low low price of $128 before approval. So looks like the price of entry to the lobby is $147, not too bad. To get into the party there's one final fee after approval of $76, so the total cost is just north of $220. I'm still working on getting more consistent in my shot placement, so I'm not quite ready to start the process. But I hope to join the many folks in my county soon, from what I've read on the Calguns forums, people in San Joaquin are indeed getting approved and are now receiving their permits. The only thing I'm still wondering is what will Sheriff Moore do if the ruling that allows self defense to be used as our good cause is overturned. Will he revoke all permits approved using defense immediately or will he allow them to continue with their permits until the next renewal date... there is still so much up in the air. Regarding the range, we have one here in San Joaquin, but it doesn't allow for quicker shots, and at least for my purposes right now, I like the convenience of not having to wait for "CEASE FIRE!!!" to change targets. Plus, the people at The Gun Range in North Highlands are awesome, I do the majority of my purchases and FFL transfers through them as they have the fairest pricing in the land. Here in the Stockton/Lodi area, we have gun shops that like to mimic a certain dirt cheap online retailer by jacking up prices and charging $30-$40 for a 100rd pack of CCI Mini Mags, one of them even quoted me $120 to do an FFL transfer. So yeah, I\'m more than happy to drive and give my business to a place that respects the industry, the lifestyle, and the people that are part of both. Anyway, with that out of the way, I have 2 quick (hopefully) questions. Do you have any advice on a practice course of fire for a typical CCW class? Right now I'm practicing based off the course of fire from a class in Sacramento county, 5, 7, and 15 yards, all shots at 15 yds are strong hand supported, while the other 2 distances are strong and weak hand supported as well as each hand no support, for a total of 50 shots. Can you recommend anything else to be practicing?
