Made in America, 2023 Chevy Corvette Convertible 70th Anniversary Edition and the Exotic 2023 McClaren Artura brings A Bit of Superiority to the track. | #522 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:18

BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason as well as a long-time friend joins Alan to start this episode of “The Drive”. The duo shed a little light on Jay Leno and his article with Haggerty that gives credit where credit is due to the unsung hero, “the mechanic”. Jay just wants to note how we should “cut some slack” to those who work on our cars because it is not easy. Next, BJ shares a little about the struggles of Carvana, the vending machine of vehicles. She suspects that they won’t be around for very much longer.  BJ gives a list of vehicles that have the most domestic content.  Lincoln Corsair, Tesla Model 3, Corvette, Cherokee Jeep, Dodge Durango, Honda Passport, Ford F150, and Ford Broncos to name a few. Most have at least 80% of their parts made in America. George Kennedy III, Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report, makes a quick pit stop to share what he has been test-driving. The 2023 Chevy Corvette Convertible. It has a frunk as well as a bit of cargo space in the back which George doesn’t recommend putting anything that may melt for it gets a bit hot. Heated seats and steering wheel to a rearview camera and space-aged interior design. Fun car to drive. Next, we have Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror, and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. is currently driving the 2022 Ford F150 Lightning, which he is enjoying, however, he also test-drove over the past few days the Kia EV6 which he says made him a bigger fan of electric vehicles. He drove it to and from Las Vegas where he also got to test the 2023 McClaren Artura as well as the 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica. Both drove fabulously and when asked which was his favorite, Karl couldn’t choose for he was impressed with both. Closing the show with Alan is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com. Brian shares that GM who is making its mark on the electric vehicle world is gearing up to install level 2 charging stations. The Dealer Community Charging program will install over 40,000 charging stations in urban and rural communities. Estimated cost $750 million dollars. The cheapest lease deals for December is the duo’s next topic to which you can see the full list on ISeeCars.com along with the average new car listing prices. Now that new car inventory is slightly up, the hopes of lower costs on used vehicles may go down. Well that’s a wrap for this weeks episode of “The Drive”. Stay tuned for more of what’s new and electrifying in this ever evolving world of auto news.  MotorTrend’s Car of the Year goes to Hyundai’s Genesis G90 and the KIA EV6 Charges Into the Future | #521 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:15

Alan welcomes BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason as well as a long-time friend. Out with the old and in with the new. Technology and the ability to do everything in the metaverse are taking over. BJ says there is no real reason to have auto shows anymore because manufacturers are releasing their vehicles as soon as they are made and shopping online makes things easier. Electric horsepower vs. internal combustion engine horsepower. 0-60 in 3.3 seconds on a KIA! Mind-boggling! BJ says for her it’s not the power it’s the distance. BJ shares that Motor Trend has named the Genesis G90 the car of the year. It’s mostly an internal combustion engine a little hybrid outboard starter. Good power and one heck of a vehicle say BJ. The duo discusses how far Hyundai and KIA have come along in the auto world. Up next is Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror, and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. Karl starts with the list of vehicles that went up in value. Porsche 911, Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Porsche 718 Cayman, Jeep Wrangler 2 door. Next, they discuss the World Car of the Year competition as Karl test-drove 3 of the vehicles. The 2023 Lucid Air, and the 2023 Mercedes SL, which are fabulous cars. Impressive car, that looks and drives beautifully, and the 2023 Hyundai Ionic 6, which Karl feels will be a high profile car.  Lauren Fix – Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports. joins Alan next, Lauren gives insight on the $7500 tax credit for purchasing an electric vehicle and the rules and regulations that may or may not allow you to have it. She also shares that she got a sneak peek of Toyota’s new concept car the 2025 BZ, and the Toyota Prius Prime which she says is the way to go. Before Lauren exits, she shares NACTOYs top three finalists of each category. Steven Cole Smith – Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports makes a quick pit stop with Alan, to share news of friend Jay Leno getting burned while working on his antique steam car. Prayers of a speedy recovery go out to Leno. Steven goes on to share that Formula 1 will be racing in Las Vegas next year. It will be the most expensive ticket ever in the race series, and it’s because people will pay for it. Steven feels it’s gonna be a great race. Karl pops in to wrap the show up with Alan as the duo agrees that the auto shows are on their way to extinction. There are just too many other options for manufacturers to reach the customers. And as technology evolves so do they.  SEMA 2022, Recycled Rides for the Less Fortunate and Helping Special Forces Veterans Transition, It’s Not Always About the Ride | #520 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:16

BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason join Alan on this episode of “The Drive.”  The duo discusses SEMA 2022 and how Ford and GM weren’t there, yet Dodge took up a lot of cubic square feet for their impressive display.  However, they both see the ending of the auto show era and that’s because everything is heading online. Alan plays his interview with Lance Stander – CEO of Superformance as Lance shared a proud moment when the legendary Mario Andretti signed the dash of their 1966 Mach 2 GT40, and the reaction as he sat in the vehicle.  It was a moment that seemed to take him back to the beginning where it all started.  Superformance was originally in the business of replicating the cars from the 60s.  Yet they have changed direction, and now build cars licensed by the original manufacturers.  You can purchase a vehicle through them and modify it to your ideas and likings. Alan goes on to share with BJ that he got to be the voice for a very special moment at SEMA.  It’s called “Recycled Rides”.  The National Auto Body Council, which is a non-profit organization, took vehicles that were in accidents, rebuilt them, and gave them away to needy families and individuals whose stories touched the hearts of the listeners. Another interview Alan shares are with Chris Jacobs and Seth Burgett (Gateway Bronco Founder) – They auctioned off a 1968 Gateway Bronco which proceeds to go to a foundation to help veterans in special forces transition into normal civilian living.  Up next with Alan is George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report.  George has been driving the Genesis GV60, it’s an SUV for the new generation, an electric crossover.  He drove the performance version with a 235-mile range.  Lots of interior space, and a wide platform.  He says it’s hard to judge the proportions until you are next to it.  New shapes and sizes coming out of the auto industry.  The only thing he didn’t like, was not having a volume dial.  Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com, joins Alan as they wrap up this episode with words of wisdom.  Wait as long as possible to purchase an EV!  The longer you wait the more technology will catch up. Especially if you live in an apartment.  Brian then gives us a list of the best SUV deals for November. Dodge Durango, 2022 Ford Escape, 2022 Honda HRV, 2022 Hyundai Kona, 2022 Jeep Compass, 2022 Mazda CX9, 2023 Nissan Rogue, Subaru Cross trek, and 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross. More details can be found on AutoTrader.com.  Lastly, the duo discusses the new Ford Transit Trail overland van. A full-size purpose-built transit van, with 3.5 twin turbo eco boost, 10-speed transmission, and all-wheel drive.  You can modify it to your heart’s desire.  Starting price $67K.  [00:00:00] – Contributor BJ Killeen[00:06:42] – Superformance[00:13:01] – Recycled Rides[00:20:52] – Ring Brothers [00:30:22] – Gateway Bronco[00:37:23] – Nehrbergh Ring[00:43:43] – Contributor George Kennedy[00:53:52] – Genesis GV60[00:56:44] – Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid[01:04:35] – Contributor Brian Moody[01:12:58] – Dire Straights![01:21:07] – Affordability Left the Building!  Tales From the Crypt and the new Genesis G90 Luxury Sedan Puts A Spell On You | #519 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:20

Joining Alan on this episode of The Drive, is BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason, bringing on tales from the crypt with spooky car tales. The evilest car in America was in 1964, a Dodge 330.  Allegedly it has killed more than a dozen people. It took church members to cut it up in pieces and disperse it across many junk yards so it can never hurt someone again. Next, James Dean’s Porsche 550 Spyder, in which he passed away in after a crash, was purchased by George Barish, King of Customs, who got the car and began to sell parts of the vehicle to other drivers.  More deaths, fires, and injuries followed the car until it mysteriously disappeared. Lastly, the Lincoln Continental, in which JFK was assassinated in, is displayed at the Henry Ford museum. People have reported that they have seen a man dressed in gray standing by the vehicle, which is often seen in late November, the same month the assassination took place. Eerie! Up next is George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report.   They discuss EVs and how the real growth in the market should be smaller vehicles, like the Chevrolet Leaf and the Bolt, Kia’s Ioniq 5, and EV6. America can have whatever they want says Alan, however, GMs and Fords of the world are killing off their affordable cars.  The duo switch topics as Alan inquires as to what car George has been test-driving. The luxury flagship sedan, Genesis G90.  Smooth, easy to drive, fabulous car, says George.  Genesis makes good cars, but not affordable for most though. Closing the show with Alan today is friend and contributor, Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror, and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com.  The duo discusses the dynamics of speed vs. handling. If you wanna go super fast and not hear anything, with instant torque, go electric. However there is another dimension, that goes beyond performance and going fast, it’s the stopping and turning capability. Next, Karl shares he has been test-driving a lot of vehicles for the NACTOY event coming up. He says most of the cars he test drove are in the utility category and are EVs.  The Audi Q4, Genesis G80 EV, BMW iXD50, and the Cadillac Lyriq, Karl also shared that he went to Sicily and drove a Maserati MC20 Chielo. the convertible version of the MC20 coupe.  Fabulous!! The technology…is fantastic. It drives and sounds fabulously with its got twin-turbocharged 3 Liter V6. Price is a whopping $300k. As they close the show they discuss the loss of affordability in both new and used cars. The average income of a consumer that should be spent on a car, is around 10%. Not anymore! Here are the top cars that fell out of affordability.  Toyota Avalon, Chevrolet Traverse, Volvo S60,  Ford Mustang, Acura TLX, Toyota Prius, Toyota Rav4, Subaru Outback, Subaru Forrester, Honda Accord, Honda CRV.  From horse buggies and carriages to the Futuristic and Pure Electric, move over George Jettson, the future is here. | #518 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:24:15

Alan welcomes Josh Hancock – JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant as the duo discuss the next step in electric vehicles, synthetic noises!  Dodge being a muscle car brand, will those people go to the electric version with synthesized sounds?  Will the buyers follow and evolve with, manufacturers such as Dodge?  The world is moving into the electric car era.  Ford and Volkswagen people are following their brands.  Alan shares that he saw a Ford F150 Lightning for sale and wouldn’t mind buying it.  Josh test-drove one for a week.  He said there isn’t anything he doesn’t like.  Josh switches topics to announce that Maserati introduced their first EV.  They freshened the body of the Grand Turismo and are offering gas-power trains or electric. Gas-powered Turismo.  Alan says it’s a smart thing to give people a choice between gas or electricity.  Up next is George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report.  George is attending an event, Digital Dealer in Las Vegas.  He shares that there aren’t enough charging ports to support the infrastructure.  It will take about 10 years to build to catch up with the demand. George has been test-driving the 2023 Mercedes EQS.  It’s an electric S-Class luxury sedan, with a hatch and massive cargo area.  The EQS 4matic version has a 277-mile range with a dual motor setup.  Starting price over $100k.   Up next is BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason. She is text-driving a 2023 Mini Cooper Countryman.  Quality is a good, decent vehicle, but it doesn’t scoot and is slow to accelerate. Did it drive well?  It was ok, just slow, and heavy.  Dan Sandberg – Former President and CEO of Brembo Brakes North America, closes the show with Alan. The gentlemen discuss General Motors branching out and diving into energy management services and solutions.  GM energy will consist of ultium home, ultium commercial and 360.  A great way to diversify.  More relevant.  Building infrastructures that will support all aspects.  Dan asks a question since electric vehicles are coming out with more torque and horsepower than gas-powered cars, do you think that the manufacturers didn’t deliver the best in regard to torque and acceleration in gas-powered vehicles as they are in electric vehicles?   Maybe a little, but were moving into a new era, and its gonna take time.  Hurricane Ian Leaves a Few High End Vehicle’s afloat as the 2022 KIA EV6 Leaves You Inspired| #517 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:24:17

Lauren Fix – Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports. starts the show with Alan this week as she shares how the Detroit Auto Show was a bust, except for what Ford and Dodge did.   The 2022 Chrysler 300 with a Hemi engine, sold out in 20 minutes.  Dodge announced that 7 versions of the Challenger and or Charger like the Gray Ghost, super special, super high-end classic vehicles will be showcased at SEMA. The 2024 Ford Mustang made its debut, as Lauren shared the news that the making of the Camaro will end.  Lauren has been in Florida where Alan inquired about Flood cars. She said there was a McClaren P1 floated away, that was worth 1.3 million along with a Porsche GT3 RS.  Speaking of floating vehicles, Lauren gives sound advice if you’re going to buy a car, and the price is low.  Do your car fax, it may be a “flood car”. Ask questions Lauren switches topics and shared with Alan that by 2030 it is estimated that over 6 million battery packs from electric vehicles will be recycled.  That’s 12 billion dollars’ worth.  The impact on the environment on these batteries is going to be a great disaster. George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report, makes a pit stop to share that he is driving the 2022 Kia EV6.  It’s a crossover, low-slung hatchback with, similar chassis to the Hyundai Ioniq 5.  With a 274-mile range.  Fun car to drive.  Performance-oriented ride, with a great futuristic interior and lots of floor space.  Up next is Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, Grassroots Motorsports.  Steven is in Florida, so Alan inquired about the racetracks that the media showed were like lakes, Steven confirmed that the media posted photos from a flood 5 years ago. Not a lot going on in the motorsport world, except for NASCAR Cup series playoffs 31 of 36.  Alex Bowman and Kyle Busch are out because of a concussion, drivers are concerned about new cars being so stiff causing hard crashes.  Coincidence?   Chase Elliot won at Talladega.  Steven announced that Honda is releasing130 electric cars in the next 10 years and that the Camaro is going to come back as an electric. Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com. closes the show with Alan as they discuss, flood-damaged cars.  Brian suggests knowing what you’re getting. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Red flags, such as electronics don’t work.  Look in the trunk to see if any residue is left.  Check under carpets to see if it’s wet, and check for rust inside of the car.  Look at the headlights to see if there is a silt line   If it smells like a heavy deodorizer with a slight smell of mildew, another red flag.  Brian says to check out KBB.com to know how to spot flood-damaged cars.  Before Brian leaves, he gives us the top 8 least expensive cars for 2022.  2022 Chevrolet spark, Mitsubishi Mirage, Nissan Versa, Kia Rio, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Venue, Kia Forte, Kia Seoul, Subaru Impreza, and the Nissan Sentra.  That’s it folks for this week’s “The Drive”, however, please join us for the next episode as Alan brings us new car facts and auto news for all you car junkies and enthusiasts.  American Muscle continues on with the 2024 Ford Mustang “The Dark Horse” as it stampedes onto the scene | #516 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:24:16

Alan and Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member, and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. The Detroit Auto Show last week was a disaster, as both gentlemen agree. Only four automakers participated along with Toyota.  It got worse as Biden showed up and had security kick out all the media people. Most did not go back. However, Ford saved the day, just a few blocks down from the auto show as they debut the new 2024 Ford Mustang “The Dark Horse” which has over 500 horsepower. Also in celebration of the muscle car, they hosted the Mustang Stampede to which over 1000 Mustangs were on hand for viewing. Brauer is test-driving the, 2024 Hyundai Genesis GV90 SUV. An absolutely beautiful, luxury brand’s flagship SUV. Up next is Dan Sandberg – Former President and CEO of Brembo Brakes North America.  He attended the stampede with his 2020 GT 500. He said there were fields of Mustangs at the Detroit Auto Show.  Over 1000 mustangs, From Mach 1 to 67 mustangs,  gathered around Ford headquarters. Alan inquired as to where Brembo stands in regards to electric vehicles. Well, cars are still gonna need brakes.  Half the braking power at least for now, as most vehicles have built-in stopping power. BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason jump on board as she shares that the Volkswagen ID4 SUV, has an in-person Alexa-guided test drive.  You no longer get shadowed by a sales rep, you now get walked through with a specialist, and then you get in the vehicle and allow Alexa to take over. Next, BJ says that the National Transportation Safety Board wants to mandate blood alcohol monitoring systems installed in cars.  Adding more complication and cost to the vehicles. BJ’s last bit of news before she leaves is that General Motors is teaming up with Hertz to expand the EVs.  Where am I charging it?  At whose expense? What’s the answer or solution to all of this nonsense?  Hydrogen! Brian Moody Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com closes the show with two questions. The first is, why are electric cars are best in 2023? First, over the long haul, it’s cheaper to operate an electric vehicle. Secondly, you get a 7500 tax break, and third, they are fun to drive like the Kia EV6 GT, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.   So, next question is, why gas-powered cars are best in 2023?  First and foremost, they are more affordable, and secondly,  gas is easy to get.  Brian shares that Hybrids are a great solution too. Alan asks Brian, ” What do you do if you over your lease miles?”  Well, you could maybe turn the car in early or just buy the car.  Perhaps find out what your payoff is and sell the vehicle for the same amount or more.  There is always a way out.  [00:00:00] – Contributor Karl Brauer[00:06:27] – Detroit Auto Show[00:12:31] – Mustang Stampede[00:19:52] – 2024 Ford Mustang “The Dark Horse” [00:28:35] – Special Guest Dan Sandberg[00:35:54] – Half the braking power[00:42:14] – Contributor BJ Killeen[00:48:28] – NTSB Mandates[00:54:45] – General Motors and Hertz[01:02:06] – Contributor Brian Moody[01:10:14] – Electric or Gas in 2023[01:18:07] – Over your leased miles? Contributor and friend George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report starts the show off with Alan, as electric vehicles are the “hot” topic. George has been driving the Ford F150 Lightning all-electric truck.    It’s a fantastic truck and practical for going long distances.   George also test-drove the Hyundai Kona EV.  Subcompact SUV.  An economical car that has a decent range.  Meant for commuting, weekend trips, and going through daily life. One of the highlights of this vehicle is how it’s more responsive due to the low placement of the battery. Up next is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com, the duo discusses how mainstream media uses 80% to advertise electric vehicles to which only 5% are being used.  “It’s not the car, it’s the politics”, exclaims Alan.  Brian briefly talks about the Pro Pilot 2, a complete hands-free driving experience.  Off the pedal and the wheel.  As long as it’s been a mapped road. 15k to have that feature or you can subscribe.  Josh Hancock – JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant has been in New England for the past 2 months. Josh says it’s a different car culture there.  He drove an F150 Lightning Platinum.  Quiet and smooth!   He also drove the 2023 Mercedes CLS AMG 53, 4-door, which he says is designed like a Porsche Panamera, with not much room, however, he liked it.  Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, and Grassroots Motorsports, brings us news that NASCAR, Kyle Busch is moving to Richard Childress Racing.2023  Driving #8 car.  Fascinating combination! Also, Bubba Wallace won the first 400 of the year, as NHRA, is just starting their countdown.  Steven says that motorsports are slowly recovering. Steven test-drove a 2023  BMW 840i convertible.  It was a great, sophisticated, and conservative vehicle.  He also drove the 2023 BMW competition M4, now that’s a car he would drive every day. Alan and Steven close the show with their thoughts on how the auto industry is not sustainable when it comes to electric vehicles. In today’s recession people can barely afford food, yet the government wants to stuff EV’s down our throats instead. William Ford Jr., replies, “I think my great grandfather would say what took you so long.” A lot of it would be tough for him but would have been completely on board.  William continues with the fact that this has been the most fun time in his career.  The “hot” topic of the hour is the insane news that California will ban purchasing internal combustion vehicles as of 2035.  This is the 3rd time they have threatened to do so.  Eleven states are planning to jump on the ban.  New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, Washington by 2030, Connecticut, Oregon, New Jersey, Maryland, Colorado, Rhode Island, Minnesota, New Mexico, Virginia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.  You will be able to buy used ICV’s, just not new.  All electric, hybrid, or hydrogen-powered is the goal to be 100% by 2035. Lauren Fix, Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports joins Alan as she reiterates how the World Economic Forum wants to take away your vehicle, so Vote! It matters. Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, and Grassroots Motorsports.  On Labor Day, US Nationals NHRA, the biggest drag race of the year will debut. Its new  Charger will have more power than the Hellcat, with the style of its 1969 look. Dan Sandberg – Former President and CEO of Brembo Brakes North America, continues the discussion on how California is poised to phase out sales of new gas-power cars by 2035.  Studies have shown that only 6% of vehicles on the road are electric California already has a problem with power grids.  Dan says not gonna happen anytime soon. There aren’t enough vehicles to supply and electric cars are super expensive. It’s not sustainable. The Detroit National Auto Show will be on September 14th, as  Ford will unveil the new 2024 Mustang.  BJ Killeen -Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason, says Hydrogen is the way to go, not electric, as Toyota, Hyundai, and Kia are working on hydrogen vehicles. Ed Justice Jr. – Justice Brothers, Inc. President and CEO starts the show with Alan and the controversial news of California banning the sale of any internal combustion vehicles by the year 2035. Can they do that? Both men attended the Monterey Car Week and noticed a few changes this year. Hagerty put on an event called Motorlux which used to be McCalls Cars and Jets.  The difference is better food, and more of it, more places to sit, and the airplanes are now placed outside.  It’s the kick-off event of the week.  Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is the granddaddy of them all. People will fly in their cars from around the world and most are happy to just get a car on the lawn, feels like a winner to some.  Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member, and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com, drove into the event in a Lamborghini Huracan STO. Karl shares that the steering is razor sharp and precise, the suspension is communicative, and he enjoyed the ride. The price tag is $327,000.  Hagerty has bought half of the enthusiast’s industries events.  They discuss the rise in electric car pricing. Within a year, the average gas-powered went up 10.1 percent, electric went up 54 percent.  Iseecars.com, all-electric by 2035, most people cannot afford these cars.  Insanity!  BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason. takes the hot seat as she shares her experience driving the new 2023 Genesis G90, Flagship Sedan. It’s got a 3.5 T E-Supercharger AWD.  Clean and contemporary.  It’s also got new technology called the “Mood curator”, which will create a mood for you using ambient lighting, massage seats, and scents.    Premier sound system with 26 speakers., 3.5 v6 twin turbo with an electronic supercharger, 409 horsepower 405# ft of torque.  Eight-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel steer. Up next is, George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report.  George test drove an AMG Mercedes E53 class cabriolet. Twin turbo inline 6, 429 horsepower, with 389# ft of torque. A refined performance car.  $97k of an elegant piece of equipment, comfortable and stylish. Brian Moody, the Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com, closes the show with Alan as they discuss other options California’s lawmakers could take into consideration with the ban of internal combustion vehicles by 2035.   Brian says 50 percent sounds more ideal than 100 percent all-electric.  Brian shares the top 10 vehicles that will accommodate your fur babies. Vehicles that have durable seats, low cargo floor, accessories, and tie-downs in the back are ideal. The Volvo xc60, Toyota sienna hybrid, tesla model 3, Subaru Outback, RAM pro master city wagon, Kia Soul, Jeep Wrangler, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Bronco Sport, and lastly, the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. Contributor and long-time friend, BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason start today’s show inquiring about Alan’s new automobile purchase, the 2005 Maserati Spyder Cambio Corsa. He couldn’t pass it up with only 11,000 original miles. What a steal for around $20,000. Next BJ shares that organizations such as Consumer Reports, AAA, JD Power, National Safety Council, and Society of Automotive Engineers, came up with a list of terms that they want every manufacturer to start using in regards to the ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance Systems). The systems description or name changes with every manufacturer which leads to confusion for the consumers. BJ then shares that Lexus is coming out with a TX, a monstrous SUV. Dodge is also reintroducing the Hornet, which is going to be a crossover SUV hybrid. Ford is also coming out with the Ranger Raptor in 2023, as well as Rolls Royce’s introduction to their electric crossover in 2025. Kia will be introducing a 3 row, cross-electric vehicle by the end of the year. Up next is Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, and Grassroots Motorsports. Steven shares that he has been driving a 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate and says it has every option you can imagine. The only thing it’s missing is the park assist, due to the chip shortage. He says it’s a nice ride and the interior is quite lovely. He also test drove a 2023 Range Rover, and says out of all the Range Rovers he has driven, this has got to be the best. A wonderful vehicle with 9 drive modes, for anything you’re going to drive in, it will take care of you. Before Steven leaves, he shares that Sebastian Vettel, Formula One driver to Aston Martin is retiring at 35 to be a family man. He’s retiring with having 13 wins in one season. Alan welcomes Bob Broderdorf, Dodge Brand Director of Sales Operations, to announce the 7th annual Roadkill Nights, street legal racing event. It’s an iconic venue with incredible auto influencers and is expecting 40,000 plus attendees. Dodge is showcasing product reveals, such as what’s going on with the 2023 model year, performance programs, the new car for the gateway of muscle, and the future of muscle cars in an electrified world. Automobile personalities such as Tavarish, West Chaplain, Demonology, and Christina Roki to name a few, will be competing against Roadkill Nights champion, Alex Taylor. Dodge sent each racer a crate motor, paired up with a manual transmission, and they had to find their car to install it in. Vehicles such as a 69 ‘Cuda, a Magnum SXT, and a Lancer GT will be used in this 7th edition of Roadkill Nights. Bob says this is a brotherhood of muscle-heads and loads of fun. Lauren Fix – Editor-in-chief of Car Coach Reports joins Alan next as she shares what she’s been reading about the World Economic Forum, and what it is pushing for. Lauren has the impression they want consumers to give up their vehicles. Private ownership of vehicles is considered to be wasteful. The WEF is advocating communal sharing of cars to help lessen the global demand for precious metals and fossil fuels. “It’s all about money, power, and greed,” states Lauren. She goes on to share that electric vehicle tax credits are for individuals who make less than $300k a year and you have to have an electric vehicle that was manufactured in America as well as its battery. If you purchased a used electric vehicle you may apply for a $4000 tax credit. Closing the show with Alan is another long-time friend and contributor, George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus. George has been driving the new 2023 Nissan Z. A 2 door performance coupe that he absolutely loves, and its affordable! It’s got a twin turbo, 3 liter, V6 that pushes 400 horsepower,

If The “Crown” Fits, Wear It! The Global introduction of the 2023 Toyota Crown Hybrid Sedan | #510 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:24:17

Alan welcomes contributor and friend Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com.  The guys discuss a recent study on how many drivers have switched over to a hybrid. Where is it changing the most?  Where has it gone up the most?  Mississippi 241%, Hawaii, then Utah.  Growth in unexpected areas says Karl. Next the gentlement discuss the Global unveiling of the new 2023 Toyota Crown Sedan.  A standard hybrid, all wheel drive.  The base engine will get 38mpg and but the performance version will only go 28mpg, however it will have a turbo charged engine that’s tuned to make maximum torque between 2000 and 3000 rpm.  Gonna feel like a rocket ship. Karl says that he is not an “anti” electric car guy.  He and Alan talk about how the Ford Mustang Mach E was profitable when they first started selling it, but not anymore. With infrastructure issues, cost issues, profit issues, supply chain issues cars aren’t being made as fast -not only EV’s, but gas powered as well. Projections are not being met, Karl says, the word that should be used is “aspiration” instead of “projection”. Joining Alan next is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com.  Alan shares with Moody about working on his 1979 Chevy Half Ton C10 Short Bed with a Factory Big Block 454 Engine. He compares it to the 2023 Raptor R with the Shelby GT 500 engine, the TRX with the Dodge Hellcat engine.  Alan is gearing up to take it to Hot August Nights.  He asks Moody if people put specialty vehicles on Autotrader? Yes, from classics 50-80’s,  late 80’s to 90’s, to newer things, in fact he has a 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser Straight 6 Turbo Diesel with 13k Miles, if you know, you know! Next they discuss how BMW is up-charging through subscriptions – In-Car monetization.  Brian says that’s a tough sell. Alan calls it “insanity”.  Taking a premium brand and holding me hostage in order to use the heated seats.  Insane! Brian say’s there are more used vehicles then new vehicles in inventory.  Average listing price is now down, because there is an abundance, that’s the good news. Bad news is that new cars, average listing price is $46k, with options and packages over $48k.  Credit is hard to get and if you do, there are high interest rates. In the next segment, long time friend and contributor, BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and ‘Voice of Reason’ joins in on the future of car manufacturing. GM and Ford have no control when it comes to driver free vehicles.  They want to have up to 2500 vehicles that are self driving.  No steering wheel, no brake pedal.  Made for ride sharing and package delivery.  Alan says this is a problem.  In case something malfunctions what do you do?  BJ is concerned about being a passenger.  Are you brave enough?  Alan says it’s taking away jobs and the human touch. BJ says that the supply chains for the car industry are “just nuts”.  Getting simple things is absurd.   She shares that Stellantis and Ford are talking about shutting down a plant.  Alan expresses that the cost of vehicles now is outrageous, price gouging.  BJ briefly sheds light on the situation with Carlos Ghosn, former CEO of Nissan who got arrested in Japan and was confined in his home but then escaped.  He feels that he was set up. He explains how he escaped from Japan and ended up in Lebanon where he is basically a prisoner. Closing the show with Alan is Dan “Boots” Longenette – Founder and Host of Auto Smarts Radio.  Calling from Westerville, Ohio, Dan shares that on his radio show he talks about NASCAR, Good Guys, and Classics.  “What do you think about manufacturers becoming all electric?” asked Alan. “It’s coming whether we like it or not.

 The New King Of The Hill, Ford’s 2023 F150 Raptor R, It’s Scary Fast!| #509 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:24:18

Lauren Fix – Editor In-Chief for Car Coach Reports starts today’s show with a discussion on how the internet manipulates its content. She goes on to share where half of our 727 million barrels of reserve fuel or “sweet crude oil” is being shipped to. With the president claiming to be releasing it to Americans, our two cent drop in cost for fuel does nothing for the pockets of the working class. Alan is driving a 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid and say’s Ford actually has something goin in their favor with this little model. He believes automakers need to do more hybrids. For automakers to state that they will be going all electric, is an absolute mistake. Lauren chimes in with a excerpt of a study that JD Power and Associates released in regards to electric and plug-in hybrids. There are two and half more problems than regular cars, electric cars are doing more harm to the environment, not to mention the additional cost to own one. Hat’s off to JD Power and Associates for the truth. Up next to the gate is, George Kennedy III, Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report. George is driving a 2022 Hyundai Genesis GV80. It’s an electric luxury sedan. It’s got a 280 mile range with conventional controls that are easy to use. “It’s a swift, quick elegance to drive”, say’s George. Alan and George discuss the “micro transaction hell” to which automakers such as BMW are charging consumers of their vehicles monthly fees to use the seat warmers and the heated steering options just to name a few. In other words you have to pay to use the features of your vehicle – Say What! Dan Sandberg – Former President and CEO of Brembo Brakes North America makes his stand as he is now a “civilian” a retired one at that. He shared that he interviewed Sebastien Bourdais, one of the most successful open wheel racing car drivers in the world. A four time champion and winner of the 24 hour Le Mans’. An attorney by profession, Dan get’s to enjoy his time doing interviews for Brembo Red podcast as well as flying his drones. Though retired, he is still in the game of test driving vehicles. Dan drove the Rivian R1t and gives it two thumbs up. He shares that the fit and finish is excellent. For a luxury electric pickup truck it hauls fast. This adventure vehicle starts at a cool $67k. Closing the gap on today’s episode is Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine and Grassroots Motorsports. He pumps his brakes to share that in NASCAR news, Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan announced that Tylor Reddick is joining their Toyota crew in 2024. Steven say’s he’s not sure why Tylor would release such news a season and a half prior to. He currently drives for Richard Childress Racing and perhaps has put himself in a very awkward position. Alan and Steven close the show with talk on the new “King of the Hill”, the 2023 Ford F150 Raptor R. It will host a 5.2 supercharged V8 engine straight out of the Ford Mustang GT 500. With 760 horsepower, this “dino” will be scary fast. Well gearhead and grease monkey’s, join us on our next episode as Alan brings in more exciting news of the ever evolving car world on, “The Drive”.  GOING JURASSIC – The 2022 Ford F150 Raptor Claws Its Way Through The Competition | #508 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:24:14

Alans first guest is Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. Karl has been in Ingolstadt, Germany courtesy of Volkswagen Automotive Group. They gave him a sneak peek of their new “secret” product that will be coming out soon. Karl say’s it’s a drivetrain that is electrifying. While there, he got to tour the “Audi Tradition” a Media Center that shows the history of Audi. Karl explains the roots of Audi’s trademark, the four interlocking rings symbolize the 1932 merger of four previously independent automobile manufacturers: Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer. Karl has been driving the 2022 Ford F150 Lightning. He says it uses the same physical dimensions as the other F150’s, yet redesigned in ways that make a difference. Like the frunk or front trunk and the power packs that not only send power to the truck but you can send it out to power your house should you have an outage. It’s got the highest tow rating and can go 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. The only downfall is if you are towing, your 300 mile range will be cut in half and the charging time will take you about an hour minimum. So if your not in a hurry, you will be fine. Karl goes onto share that manufacturers like Tesla are down by 47% in vehicle production because of no access to rare earth metals that are needed. Honda is down 40% and Nissan 34%. Karl shares that those who are waiting on the new GM Hummer can wait on up to 17 years. “Something needs to give”, says Alan. People will get tired of waiting and will head back to internal gas combustion. Up next is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com. The duo briefly discuss Buick and it’s surprising survival. They are coming out with the “Wild Cat” as their new all electric concept car. Brian say’s it’s got sort of a Jetson type vibe with a 300 mile range. Brian comes in with a left curve as he says he would invest his money in a small chain of service facilities that specialize in gasoline cars, for the future may be in electric, or like Alan anticipates, hydrogen. Brian shares a website called KBB.com/service-repair-guide where you can find out what kind of service your car may need. Type in the make and model, what’s been going on and it will help you narrow down the problem. Alan chimes in and talks about his 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. It’s am diesel with 29 mpg, and tows 6500# with ease. Brian lists the best fuel economy vehicles of 2022 which is the Hyundai Ioniq @ 59mpg, the Toyota Prius @ 56mpg, the Honda Elantra Hybrid @ 54mpg, and the Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2 52mpg. He goes onto say that statistics show that in 1967 there were 186 smog alerts in Los Angeles, by 2019 there were 0 smog alerts. How did we get there? Not because of electric cars, but because gas is cleaner and the emission controls are better. He feels that fuel economy will continue to get better with hybrids being made. BJ Killeen joins Alan next as she talks about Barrett-Jackson in Vegas. They sold over 650 vehicles with no reserve worth over 48 million dollars. Over 300 pieces of automobilia were sold as well. A 1970 Plymouth Superbird sold for $1.65 million, a 1963 Chevy Corvette Split Window Z06 for $566K, a Hemi Cudas ’70 and ’71 for $500k each, Dodge Hemi Challenger $379k, a Ford Mustang “Eleanor” Tribute car for $330k, just to name a few. For charity the 2023 Cadillac Escalade V raised $525K, and a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon for $125k to which that went to Ronald McDonald Charity of Detroit. BJ also shared that the Dodge Demons were going for $60-$70K and Bentleys were going between $40-$60k. Alan boasts that the most bodacious automobile that he ever owned was the Dodge Demon.
