Personal and Communal Transformation / Hebrews 10:19-25 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

God is a God of community. He is a communal being, and He created mankind to experience community with Him. In fact, the heart of the gospel shows us a God who is doing whatever it takes to bring us back into a personal relationship with Him. And now that we have it, He entreats us to enter into that communal relationship with Him. Hebrews 10 reminds us that once we understand God's priority of relationship and are transformed by this relationship, striving for community will become a priority for us. [Video File] [Audio File]

 Promises of the Messiah / Genesis 3:15 / Hebrews 1:1-3 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

From Genesis to Revelation, we see that God’s plan for a Savior of the world has always been Jesus. That plan unfolds chapter by chapter, and becomes more and more evident, revealing His glory over time. There are over 300 prophecies specifically pointing to the work of Jesus – His birth, His ministry and the details of His life – and they all go back to a singular male pronoun “he” in Genesis 3:15. Jesus is the promised Messiah, the plan of God from before the foundations of the earth. We have been given many promises of who this Messiah would be, and Jesus fulfills them all perfectly.  Why We Need the Messiah / Genesis 1-3 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

To understand the gospel, we have to understand the bad news of our depravity. From the very beginning, humankind was made in the image of God. But it didn’t take long for us to sin and screw up His original design. What God intended to be holy became corrupt. We are entirely hopeless without Him, dead in our sins, incapable of saving ourselves. We are all sinners in need of a Savior. Every single one of us. [Video File] [Audio File]

Reflecting the Beauty of Christ Through Diversity / Colossians 4:7-18 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In the midst of polarization and tension in our world, how do those who claim to be under the banner and headship of Jesus Christ live in a way that reflects His glory and our oneness in Him? Many people, when seeing the list of names in this chapter, tend to skip over the end and move on, but this passage says a lot about the gospel and also about the author, Paul. Part of the expression of the gospel is our longing and desire to be around people who don’t look like us, and Paul puts that into practice by surrounding himself with different groups of people. If the gospel really is the gospel and if we really are under the lordship of Christ as one body, we ought to reflect the diverse image of God. [Video File] [Audio File]

For the Spread of the Gospel / Colossians 4:2-6 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

After spending a chapter showing us how Christians are to conduct themselves in their relationships within the household of God, Paul turns his attention to how Christians should conduct themselves toward those outside the household of God. In this important text, we will see the vital link that our speech, conduct and prayers play when it comes to spreading the hope of the gospel so those who are far from God might come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.  Interacting Well With Others / Colossians 3:15-4:1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Now that we have a new life in Christ that is continually being renewed by Him, what does it look like to live that life, and how does it influence the relationships we have? Paul explains that we need to allow the Word of God to shape the way we think and the way we live, interacting with others in a way that is pleasing to God, and he gives us some practical things to be mindful of in the areas of marriage, the home and the workplace.  The Character of the True Team / Colossians 3:1-14 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

As believers, we have been drafted onto the team of the true King. God took us from our old life and gave us a new one in Christ Jesus. This new team of Christ comes with a different character and different demands. We need to put on the uniform of the new team and identify ourselves with Him, letting go of the old and putting on the new, and when people see us, they should know what team we’re on because of the uniform we wear. We should no longer follow the playbook of the world, consuming the things it offers, because we are no longer a part of it. Look up and focus your eyes on Him. You went through too much to go back to the things you used to do, and you cost too much to go back to where you came from. [Video File] [Audio File]

Substance Over Shadows / Colossians 2:16-23 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

After walking the church through the importance of the supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus Christ in all things, Paul gives a warning for the church to ensure they guard against any sort of false teaching that would seek to convince them to trade in the fullness of the substance they had received in Jesus, for the hollowness of lesser shadows those teachers were selling. In this message we'll see for the first time the exact nature of the false teachings that were surrounding the church at Colossae, how those teachings are still around the church today, and how we are to guard against them through the power of Christ and His gospel.  God Is Still at Work in Us / Colossians 2:6-15 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Paul explains to his readers in this passage that a proper view of Jesus will influence the way they live. A proper understanding of theology will work its way out practically. The gospel didn’t just come into play at a single point in time when we were saved. God is still at work in our lives. We need to continually point people to Jesus, because the power of God is what changes us so we can live out the gospel wherever we are. [Video File] [Audio File]

Ministers of the Mystery / Colossians 1:24-2:5 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

The Apostle Paul expands on the hope that is found in the gospel, as he turns very personal, explaining the nature of his work and his reasons for doing it. Paul was a tent-maker by trade, but that vocation did not define his life or his mission. Paul’s true labor, of which tent-making was a means to the end, was to proclaim the riches the church has been given in Christ so everyone would be complete in Him. Our hope is that we would not only be reminded of the treasure we have been given in Christ, but also re-examine the gospel work we’ve been called to and why we labor for it.  The Uniqueness of Christ / Colossians 1:15-23 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

This section of Scripture gives a strong Christology message, providing us with a better understanding of the uniqueness of Christ, which then gives us a better understanding of the uniqueness and beauty of God. What an incredible God to position Christ in such a way as to be our Redeemer, who would love and care for us enough to be a sacrifice for us. He was preeminent, preexistent and an agent of creation. He is before all things, above all things, sovereign over all things, and the redeemer and reconciler of all things. Many of us know these attributes about Christ. But do we really believe them?  The Supremacy and Sufficiency of Christ in the World / Colossians 1:1-14 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In the first century, the church at Colossae (in modern day Turkey) was under attack from false teachers seeking to persuade them that the person and work of Jesus Christ was neither supreme nor sufficient for their salvation and human flourishing. Being concerned for a flock he had never visited before, the Apostle Paul writes this letter to encourage the church to stand in the truth and power of the gospel that has saved them and promises to sustain them in perfect supremacy and sufficiency for their every need. In this message we'll explore the introduction and background to the book of Colossians, as well as a profound prayer Paul prays for this church that is just as relevant to the church today as it was 2000 years ago.  Live the Word / Luke 14:25-35 / Mark 12:29-31 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Historically, the church assembling has been about speaking into one another’s lives, praying for one another and challenging one another to be about what God calls us to be about after the gathering. We need to encourage each other so that as we go back out into the world, we know we are in this together. That’s what it means to be the church. [Video File] [Audio File]

 Seeing the Word / Exodus 11-12 / 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 / Colossians 2:11-14 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

God's Word shows us the clear importance of reading, teaching, preaching, praying and singing His Word when it comes to the local gathering of His church. But did you know God has also specifically designed our gatherings for us to see His Word as well? In this message, we'll explore the unique ordinances and symbols of Baptism and Communion as ways for us to visibly remember and proclaim the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ together as a church.
