Today in the SVP Lounge, CT and Dan marvel over the Terrapins win against Michigan State, drumming the Spartans at home behind the ESPN college basketball player of the week in Melo Trimble and the Big Ten player of the week in Jake Layman. They also discuss their Friday night out in DC and the sneakiness of Jello shots. Later, they welcome CBS Sports college basketball writer Matt Norlander to the SVP Lounge to talk a little Scott Van Pelt, but mostly to examine the Terps season to date, his initial feelings when Maryland hired Mark Turgeon, revisiting last spring’s roster turnover, Romelo Trimble’s exciting year, where the Terps stand going forward in the Big Ten race and a reminder from the entire pod that rankings aren’t worth getting upset over. Today in the SVP Lounge, CT, Matt and Eric take to the pod to discuss the the story lines following Maryland's 1-1 week on the road. They dig into the Terps victory over Purdue on Saturday and how Mark Turgeon and co. were able to overcome a disadvantage inside against Isaac Haas and AJ Hammon’s size, the continued poor shooting and winning the game with excellent defense. Then, the guys take a look at what went wrong against Illinois last Wednesday, chalking it up to playing a desperate team at home.  Later, they examine where the Terps are in the Big Ten standings, talk Rutgers upset over Wisconsin and preview this week’s home slate versus the Scarlet Knights and the Michigan State Spartans.  The boys also discuss the arrival of Ivan Bender from Croatia, his eligibility, whether he’ll play this year and where he fits in with next year’s roster.  To close, Eric and CT discuss the disaster on the Washington, D.C., metro that trapped about 80 people in a smoke filled train. And as it relates to the Maryland, Eric spotted a former Terp football player as one of the unfortunates coming out of the smoke filled train.
