I love Adventure Cycling Association! America's Bicycle Travel Experts. I interview Winona Bateman - media director for ACA about the recent success of their 3rd annual fundraiser to generate funds for the US Bike Route system. The campaign - Build It Bike It, Be a Part of It raised more the $50,000.
Love for style and the bike! I interviewed Brooke Freiborg and Deb Amorde of Moxie Cycling Company. A product born out of some might say, long rides through Iowa. We discuss entrepreneurship, style and how they developed their own jersey to meet their needs.
My new sounds: Recent Chicks On Bikes Show. This months theme is Bike Literature. Featuring Dominic Gill and James of Boneshaker Magazine. Please forgive the technical issues with the recordings, we had to start each of these interviews two times.
I cant say enough good thing about this lovely magazine out of the UK. A beautifully art-directed, perfect bound publication that celebrates cycling. Get a copy from your local independent book store or bike shop.
As part of this months theme of Bike literature I sat down and spoke to Dominic Gill and his girlfriend / partner Nadia Boctor. We talked about the original journey in the book Take a Seat and what the 2 have been up to since.
Happy new years show. The theme is Bikeable Cities and I talked to three great people. From Minneapolis, Bjorn Christianson of Minneapolis Bike Love and Patrick Stephenson of 30 Days of Biking. From our homestate, California, the always great Jim Brown of the California Bicycle Coalition.
Jim Brown and I talk about what makes a city bikeable and how California is doing in this area.
I spoke with Executive Director of Denver B-Cycle, Parry Burnap about the program she runs in Colorado. Some topics we covered: how the city has changed, the future of the program and how it works.
Theme of this episode is BikeShare! I wanted to look at different bike share programs in a variety of shapes and sizes. I spoke with Eric Gilliland of Capital BikeShare, Parry Burnap of Denver B-Cycle and a great group of students who operate Pomona College's Green Bikes. Please forgive our many technical snaffus.
I traveled out to Pomona to visit with the young advocates at Green Bikes, which is at Pomona College. These students are off to a great start in the world of bicycles and literally greening their world ~ one green bike at a time. The run a bike share program that raffles 100 bikes to students every semester. The system successfully operates on the honor system and through its operations it keeps 1000s of pounds of metal out of the waste stream.
This phone interview is a part of the November live show, the theme is "BikeShare". Eric is the General Manager of the DC-based Capital BikeShare.
I chat with a hero and true pioneer in the cycling industry, Georgena Terry. We discuss: industry culture, her original bike design and how it translates into the mission of Terry Bicycles over the last 2.5 decades. Of course we talked about bike ride happiness too!
Theme is "Cool Product". My in-studio guest and co-host is Allison Copeland from Sport Eve (Culver City, CA). We chat with Martha of Action Wipes (California), Lanette of Cycle Dog (Portland, OR), Nona Varnado (New York) and our E. Coast Correspondent Robin Bylenga of Pedal Chic. The first clip is from an interview with Joanie Park, of CHROME SF...from a few weeks ago. All cool products indeed. All of these women are making a difference - for people and the planet.
Joanie chats with us about life at CHROME. We discuss how and why she rides and what it means to ride as a woman...or does it? Short and sweet interview, we hope this is one of many. It will be played on the live show 102911 with the theme of COOL PRODUCT.
