One of the most important bands in the extreme metal genre, Morbid Angel have no equal! Tremble at the might of Morbid!
We're in the deep forest this week and what better band to focus on than Satyricon, a Norwegian black metal act known for their creativity in a rather confined genre. We go back to the historical route this time, listening to tunes from all their full length records.
This time we interview Albert Mudrian, the author of Choosing Death, a fantastic book which chronicles the origins of the Death Metal and Grindcore scenes. We go over the process and pitfalls of writing and our mutual love of metal.
A wrap up of the At The Gates US reunion tour with guests: Chris Dick (metal journalist) and Albert Mudrian (Decibel Magazine editor).
We're joined this time by longtime brother of metal, Chris Dick as we discuss the early career of Finnish metalers Amorphis. With each passing album it becomes evident why they chose their name.
This episode we decided to approach the show a little different... using a single person to explore a scene. We use the vehicle of Taneli Jarva to discuss the work of Sentenced, Impaled Nazarene, Chaosbreed, and the Black League. Join us for a diverse ride through the Finnish metal scene.
The W.A.R. (Wrong Again Records) Compilation. One of the most prolific and sought after albums and the gateway to the second wave of Swedish Death metal. We discuss its impact on us and the scene.
Thrash genre benders Testament are explored this episode. From Thrash to Death and back again.
Fond recollections of classic metal from our formative years. We go back and discuss the career of Brazilian thrash masters Sepultura.
This episode we discuss yet another fine product of the British doom scene of the early 90s... Anathema. The first 3 albums are highlighted as well as their first EP.
This time we decided to take a different approach to covering a band than usual. Jason & Mark picked their top 6 Paradise Lost tracks (which was quite a task) and use that as the framework to talk about their career.
This week we rewind a bit with a band responsible for much of the sound of early grind and death metalâ?? Repulsion. We go into their short, but highly influential career and showcase some of the bands whom draw from Repulsion for their sound. Get ready for a sonic journey of the rawest kind.
We finish up our profile of black/viking metal chameleons, Enslaved. The second half goes into the later part of their career with the albums "Below the Lights", "Isa" and "Ruun".
Another Norwegian act this week... Enslaved. This week we're also trying out doing some 2 part episodes, and Enslaved is easily a 3 part show, so be prepared for a glut of viking-themed Nordic metal.
This time we profile the Sons of Northern Darkness, Immortal-- this one may be our most overly academic show yet, Join our search for Blashyrk in the Heart of Winter!
