TGRP Episode 330: The Sword, Kalashnikov and Kit | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:29:59

In the ever changing world there are a lot of questions about the direction of the nation. On of the more persistent questions has to do with the ever changing appearance of the American police forces. How is it that a group that is supposed to be organized to protect have turned into something that looks more at home in a war zone than in the suburbs. There is a balance that can be struck but there are some things that we as a society need to accept.  TGRP Episode 329: Memorial to Common Sense | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:55:45

Last weeks segment t on the responsibility of veterans to the nation was a little short on something and this week I try to balance the books. The United States has never been in a total war within it’s borders. There have been small instances of total war but on the small scare. There has never been an even to the caliber of the two world wars or the other conflicts that have has global ramifications.  Within the prepper community there are some that believe that a war of that scale would purify the body politic of our nation. This is something that t they have not thought through completely because there are heavy cost associated with that and one of them is a human cost. That cost is one that is more expensive than anyone can truly gauge.

TGRP Episode 328: Dedication to the Law of the M16 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:36:40

Show Sponsors:  Concealment Solutions Ft. Knox There is nothing simple about the world that we live in today. One could cite the tax code as a perfect example of how complex and convoluted the world has become. Unfortunately the tax code is not the only hyper complicated thing that we have to deal with today. Government has become far larger than it should and there are some very precarious questions that this raises about how we as Americans should proceed in our lives. This and the the observation of the law. Mitchell vs. HPD Rare Third Amendment suit Police Accused of Forcibly Occupying a Private Residence

TGRP Episode 327: Bug Out Bag Essentials | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:25:17

Toe-Pick Show Sponsors: Topic:            Survival Gear Bags Glen Tate:  Concealment Solutions Feedback:  Ft. Knox The Bug Out Bag is one of the most individualized pieces in the prepper tool box. This Item is as individual as DNA and for good reason. Not only are none of us the same none of out circumstances will be the same. There are common factors that need to be addressed with all of the bags and their contents or the consideration needs to be accounted for in plans and training a person does. Of these considerations are air, water, food, hygiene, security, shelter and energy. All of these are important. The first survival need is air. The absence of safe breathable air will kill a person faster than the absence of water or food and except on rare acceptations faster than the absence of heat. In the modern world there are numerous toxins that exist in our air that will contribute to a long slow death.  High concentration toxins such as smoke or CS or Tear gas can have a debilitating and sometimes deadly effect on a person. For this there are a number of one time (Grainger Escape Filers) and multiple application filtration systems (Gas Masks: Drill Spot, NEOBITS, NBC Gas Mask Dot Com[40 mm Filters Available here]) available. These systems should not be utilized in the same fashion as military and law enforcement who need to stay on an scene but as a method to allow for rapid egress. With respect to water there are a number of gimmicks on the market that are only designed to be the latest cool thin in the market.  For a while the latest cool thing on the market was the Camelbak.  A very simple concept, but a bag full of water on a person’s back with a straw. Since then there are several other companies that have mastered the same concept. Not that there is anything wrong with the only canteen or Nalgene bottle but there is quite a bit of versatility that they offer. One is in-line filtration (Camelbak, Platypus) which means that almost any water source can be utilized. Other items that can help with water quality such as canteen cups and tablets. Food is something that tends to be over analyzed.  Some people will spend a tremendous amount of money on shelf stable foods.  For the function of a Bug Out Bag or a Get Home Bag the food carried doesn’t need to be the most expensive or the latest shelf stable food it can be something as simple as a few king sized candy bars. But there another options on the market in the form of the sports industry, bars and drinks that were designed to help endurance athletes perform at their best.  These are all great options but need to be regularly swapped out. Hygiene is something that is one of the most important factors with regard to survival. Poor hygiene has been the downfall of many civilizations and has been attributed to poor hygiene. From the cleaning of wound, dental care, washing and waste management there are more than just physiological benefits.  Mental health in times of high stress is a very fragile thing and is something that hygiene gives us in a time of turbulence. As a regular topic security is discussed on this show all of the time.  There are some smaller measures that need to be addressed; things such as staying in a hotel during an emergency or even using a bathroom during an emergency.  Small items can make a big difference, not the least of which is a good firearm and some range time. The last item in the topic is energy a thing that can kill anyone any time. Too much energy, such as from a heat wave or fire and one can die, too little and the same result can occur, one can die.  Simply put energy comes in two forms for the purposes of this discussion. One is fire the other is electricity. In the first world there are all kinds of things that run on electricity such as cell phones.  In a modern collapse there will be a lag between the collapse and the failure of services. It is important to keep thing working as long as possible.

TGRP Episode 326: SKS For You | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:40:21

This week’s episode looks at a lot of different things from the Supreme Court’s landmark decision to the benefits of long term storage of a rifle and why the SKS lends its self to being a really good weapon for storage in a remote area. We look at the development of the SKS and how this is another weapon in what is a worldwide pyridine shift. Though this is not the greatest weapon to come from the conversation to tactical rifles it is a significant step. This weapon did have a significant impact on some conflicts such as the Korean War but it also has a historical niche in the United States. Glen and I tactile our personal four gun batteries and make some personal confessions. We also look at some recent political stuff and of course I answer your questions Jim Rawles on long term caching

 TGRP Episode 325: ROEs | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:43:43

With all that has come about there is a question about what oversight is there in the government and what does it take to become a target of the feds?  In today’s world there are a lot of things to think about and even some very elementary concepts that should be though of when it comes to how those in government should behave. There are not just ramifications for the average law-abiding person that is not a gun owner but also for gun owners themselves. New Jersey had even considered requiring it’s residences to pass a mental evaluation to be able to purchase a firearm. There is some very dangerous ground being tread by government and the question needs to be who is setting up the Rules of Engagement. The second segment of the show today is listener feedback. This can be sent to Question@thegunrunnerpodcast.com or called in to (855) 308-5566. Today we look at a Four-Gun-Battery for those of you in the less free states, carrying long guns in the trunk, colored glasses and the 80% receiver (Tactical Machine)and some of the issues that I have with that.

TGRP Episode 324: Your Wheel House | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: Unknown

When it comes to how we defend our homes and our families there is the right way and the the Tacticool way.  TGRP Episode 320: FN FAL | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:08

As the last battle rifle the FAL holds a special place on the list. It marks the end of an era. This is the last rifle designed for the old wars. It was conceived with the vast forests of Western Europe, the jungles of the Pascific and the vast wastes of Russia. The FAL was a whole concept rifle like the M-14, designed to be multi-role within the squad. Unlike the M-14 or the M1 there are few images of the FAL that stick in the mind. There are no common images that pop into the mind when dealing with the FAL. America is disconnected from it and I hope that today does a little something to amend that.
