Lori Gertz is a fabulous Mom. She adopted a beautiful little girl without her history. Elli was exposed to drug and alcohol in utero causing FASD or Fetal Alcohol Specturm Disorder. FASD is brain damage, it is irreversable. Not only does little Elli suffer from PTSD, she also has Bi-Polar Disorder and Reactive Attachement Disorder. W.R.R. is a survivor of 18 years of sexual abuse, incest, and torture in a child sex ring run by his father. He started writing poetry at a very young age to escape the horrors of his life. He recently put his efforts into becoming an advocate, focusing on public awareness of the impact on survivors, as well as letting them know that they are not alone. My daughter and I did Scotts Ride in memory of my son and her brother Scott who died in 1985 from mitochondrial disease.It was a way of spreading awareness of this terrible disease that affects mainly children.We hope for a cure. More children die from mitochondrial disease than from cancer today. We rode our bikes from Keremeos to Toronto for mitochondrial disease.

In the aftermath, she commits to counseling to recover from anxiety and depression.
