Ever see interviews, news programs or talk shows on TV, where the host is talking to someone in another part of the world but both of their faces appear on the screen at the same time? In this video tip, I show you how to achieve conversation shots like this, by taking two or more pre-recorded video clips and combining them into a single screen.

 WVU #29 – 3D Compositing In Sony Vegas Pro | File Type: video/mpeg | Duration: 3:10

3D compositing is a technique where you can manipulate objects, in a video, in 3D space.  In plain language, that means you can twist, turn and spin objects...while also creating depth between those objects.  If you've ever seen a video where one object appears in the foreground while another appears in the background...and there appears to be distance or space between these objects, that's 3D compositing in action. And in this video, I demonstrate just how easy it is to do 3D compositing in Sony Vegas Pro.

 WVU #25 – H.264, High-Definition Video On The Web | File Type: video/mpeg | Duration: 2:25

What actually does and does not qualify as high-definition video on the web is the source of much debate.  What's not debated, however, is the format of choice for high-quality video on the web.  And that format is known as H.264. But what exactly is H.264 and how can you use it for your web videos?  Well, all this and more is covered in this week's video tip. By the way, see the "HD On" button in the top right corner of the video? That means the video is playing in H.264.  Click that button and it will change to "HD Off".  That means the video will play using the regular, old Flash format.  You can compare the difference in quality between the two.

With digital photos, you've always been able to edit out bad spots...replacing those spots with something more attractive.  But what most people don't know, is that you can do the same thing with video. For example, maybe you're in real estate and have a video showing the outside of a house.  But in the video the sky is cloudy...and you'd like to make it a brilliant blue with flowing clouds. With video editing software, you can do this through something called masking.  And in this week's tip, I show you how to quickly and easily do masking in Sony Vegas.
