Donna was at an exhibition on Salt Spring Island when we caught up with her. Her partner is Greg Spendgean who was field staff officer. She taught English and Art. Here is her story.They have lived in Uganada , worked with CIDA in Egypt, Sudan and then Central America. From a love of collecting baskets to an amazing artists and weaver. Heidi worked at the Vanuatu Cultural Centre on a Youth research and advoccay project that is still operating today. I met Heidi in Victoria with her wonderful family. Sally Thomas studied Health Sciences at the University of Winnipeg. She has had an extensive international work in Nursing. She has served in Bolivia, Karachi with AKDN etc.She continues volunteering with the Osteoporosis Board of Canada and Soroptimists. Katharine Bergbusch is originally from BC. A graduate of UVic in English literature and education. She served at the Jasikan Training College. I met Susan on Saltspring Island where she now lives. She worked in a high school in the Lay Congo Mission. Tim came to Salt Spring Island reunion armed with one of the most unique photo albums I have seen. He was posted with a UN fishing project helping to train people to fix boats and engines that had been donated on Ambrym Island( The Black Magic Island)! He adapted in the small community and came to love the people and the life.
Louise came to the Salt Spring reunion. She had served in Chiang Mai as a teacher. I met Lesley in Brandon, Manitoba. She talked about her volunteer work before she went to Ghana and her desire to travel. In Ghana she worked in the Wa Municipal office on quality control and assessments of the education system. The food she liked and more. Peter now is studying Fisheries and Agriculture in Nanaimo. In Ghana he taught agriculture in a rural youth training program and in Indonesia he worked as an agriculture teacher on water and fisheries project.John thanks for your many years of service.
