On Thursday January 20, 2011, at 3:30 p.m., the Portland Police Bureau held an awards ceremony at the David Douglas Horner Performing Arts Center. Honorees included several members of the Portland Police Bureau, officers from other law enforcement agencies, and other Portland community members. Awards included the Civilian Medal for Heroism, the Police Star, the Police Medal, the Lifesaving Medal, Unit Commendations, the Commendation Medal, the Achievement Medal, and the Mark Zylawy Distinguished Service Medal.
When friends of 29 year old Margaret Lynn Wilson realized she hadn't kept appointments, they called police. When officers entered her home, at 9018 NE Oregon, they discovered Wilson deceased on her bed. The cause of her death was asphyxiation.
Portland Police Officers served pizza to John James Elementary School Students.
Chief Reese raised $465 for the Salvation Army on December 13, 2010.

At a news conference on Monday, November 22, 2010, at 2:30 p.m.,Chief Michael Reese will announce the formation of the Youth Services Division at the Portland Police Bureau. ; The news conference will be held at the Blazers Boys and Girls Clubs, located at 5250 N.E. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Early this morning, Portland Police Detectives in cooperation with the US Marshal's Fugitive Task Force arrested 31-year-old Vorladeth "Kevin" Souvannachoumkham of Southeast Portland for Murder in connection with last weekend's shooting death of 28-year-old Steven Ouk of Southeast Portland at the Good Call Sports Bar & Grill. Although this is still an ongoing investigation, Detectives believe that Kevin Souvannachoumkham is the only suspect in the shooting.

Portland Mayor Sam Adams, United States Attorney for Oregon Dwight Holton and Portland Police Chief Mike Reese held a press conference Friday, October 15, 2010, at 11:15 a.m. at North Precinct. Mayor Adams and Chief Reese announced the start of the new Portland Police Gun Task Force. Salina Harris, mother of Andre Payton opened the press conference with a few words about her son and a request for the public's help in solving this crime.

Friday September 24, 2010, at approximately 8:36 a.m., Portland Police Officers responded to a silent robbery alarm at Check Cash Pacific, located at 4059 Northeast Sandy Boulevard. Officers arrived and spoke with a female employee who told officers that the suspect pointed a gun at her and hit her on the head with the gun as he demanded money. The suspect forced his way into the business as the victim was opening for the day. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the area southbound on Northeast 40th Avenue from Sandy Boulevard. ;The suspect is described as a six-foot-tall black male with a muscular build, wearing a long sleeve button-up shirt, khaki pants, latex gloves, a knit hat and glasses.
