What about SEO for a site with quite a few images that read as text? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 06:34

If you were 'maintaining' a Web site that you had no hand in its original design and there were quite a few images that read as text, but were really just text made into the image... How would you make text (ie. 'more than 75 members') search-able in the Search Engines?

A question how domain names can have a play in an SEO campaign | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 04:13

If I have a business that sells chocolate ice cream and my domain is chocolatedelights.com would it be wise that I purchase a domain (such as chocolateicecream.com) that matches one of my keywords and then point that domain to chocolatedelights.com? What would be the potential result in Google if someone searches for Chocolate Ice Cream?

Question about domain names, directory names & page names. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 06:26

Say you're using a similar version of your example about Chocolate Ice Cream... If you were launching a totally new Web site with a fresh/never been used domain name, ... For example, if you had just bought icecream.com, and you wanted to start simply at first by using only Chocolate and Vanilla flavors of ice cream and you also wanted to sell Baklava, and maybe Napoleans ... ( Makes ya hungry just thinkin' 'bout 'em all, don't it? :) LOL ) Knowing that your URL get crawled by the search engine spiders,... Which of these URLs would be the best SEO solution, if you had complete control of all the names, and would some/any of them be sorta SPAM-ish or OverKill to the search engine spiders?

Another question about 'fresh content'. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 04:26

I am currently developing content for a web site and have a question that hopefully you may be able to answer. You frequently state that adding 'fresh content' to your site is one of the best ways to increase your page rank with the major search engines. Unfortuately most of the pages on my site will contain evergreen content with little need to add fresh content... For example, assume my site was all about furniture refinishing. It might have a page on how to sand drawers, a page on how to repair wood gouges, and a page on how to apply stain. Let us also assume this content is the best written and most comprehensive ever written on the subject. There would be no reason to ever add fresh content to these pages, right? Sure, I could spend lots of time re-writing/re-phrasing/re-structuring copy, but this seems to be to a huge waste of time that adds no value to the user.

How can I get listed in regional directories? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 05:32

1.) Do you need to and should you submit your Web site to Google UK, Google Ireland, and what amounts to Google Scotland and similar branches of Yahoo? Or does the general submission to Google and Yahoo (worldwide) 'cover all the bases'? I'm also interested in learning more about domain names with 2-letter country code endings (like: .co.uk and .ie)..... 2.) On the search engine form, how do you go about getting listed in the results for 'pages from Ireland' or in the Google regional Directory for 'Search only in Scotland'? Would you *have* to have a '.ie' or '.uk' domain name respectively? And, is it possible for an American citizen to purchase a '.ie', '.uk' or other international domain name? And, if it is possible, would it necessarily be considered Black Hat to do so, or would it be just another form of 'covering all of your SEO bases'?

Part 3 & 4: Link Ranking & Hosting your Blog 'outside' your main domain? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 07:22

3. I use the 'link' command to see who's linked to me. Is there a 'rank' command to determine how many pages deep my site appears on google? -- 4. I have been talking to other legal bloggers who say that I should host my blog OUTSIDE of my main domain. That is, don't put my blog as a subdomain of my main site. Any SEO effect to that?

Part 2 of 4 - How can I tell if Google has Blacklisted my site? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 03:40

Here's a simple way to tell if your site has been blackilsted by Google & other search engines.

1st of a 4 part question: I use adwords. Is that BAD for SEO? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 06:18

I use adwords. Is that BAD for SEO? What interest does google have in bumping up my positioning, if I'm paying for it!

 Common/uncommon spellings and singular/plurals of a domain | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 05:42

I am developing a Web site for a client, and I have a question for you. Say I am developing www.wheelbaRowS.com (a fictitious site). If other common/uncommon spellings and singular/plurals of a domain (such as: wheelbaRow.com, wheelbaRRowS.com, and wheelbaRRow.com) came up for sale, should I buy them up to eliminate the competition? And, if I'm mainly interested in developing just the 1st site, what's the best SEO solution for using or not using the other 3 (for instance) domains?

My question is about sites with a focus on photo/illustrative content | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 03:32

My question is about sites with a focus on photo/illustrative content. I know content is king when it comes to winning the search engines' favor.and that fresh, up-to-date content is necessary for good placement. But if your site deals with visual over written content, what is the best way to generate enough relevant content? Are image alt tags enough or does one need to Come up with continuous copy for the site.even when the site's image content might change only a daily basis?

I was listed in Google & changed my Title Tag & dropped off. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 09:08

I had positioning in Google & then made a change to my Title Tag & dropped off. How can I fix the problem and get re-listed?

Using Forum Posts to boost search engine placement. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 08:05

Posting to Forums can be a great way to quickly boost your search engine rankings... If done the right way... It's almost SNEAKY!

Issue regarding multiple words used in domains, directories, and filenames. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 08:17

I have been listening to your podcast(s) for a while and was wondering about a particular issue regarding multiple words used in domains, directories, and filenames. Here's the question: If you had to rank these choices from best to worst, in terms of good SEO, what would your order be? Say you had a person's name (or multiple keywords making up a new domain name) that needed to be used in a directory name and also a filename inside that directory. If the person's name were: Mary Virginia Smith-Collier (as an example), what is your opinion on using the "%20 space character" vs. the hyphen("-") vs. the underscore("_") vs. just running all the names together in one long string, and possibly eliminating a hyphen in a name? I heard that if the one long string created another "undesirable" word when joined that that would confuse the Search Engine spider and therefore, you should *never* join multiple words as one long string. For instance: Pleasant Hill Estates would give you the obvious: pleasANTHILLestates.com as a sorta funny example.

FOLLOW-UP to Minimizing the Risk when switching to Wordpress | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 04:32

I have the number one ranking for a HTML Site but... | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 04:38

I am in the process of changing to wordpress for the some or the entire site. I am concerned I will loose my top ranking by changing the site. Is there anything I should be doing to minimize the risk?
