 UK Official Top 40 June 27 1981 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7200

”Hello again, my friend”. Ah Neil Diamond from the Jazz Singer can’t beat it. No there’s no Neil Diamond in this chart so deal with it. Today it is back to 1981. We take a venture through the official chart and the week slap bang in the middle of summer. Kirsty MacColl and Bruce Springsteen debut on the top 40. There is some Adam Ant, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, The Specials, Bob Marley, Tom Tom Club, Phil Collins, Ultravox, Shakin’ Stevens, Rainbow and many more. I got so damn excited by the music, a little bit of pee accidentally came out. 1981 when we were asking Margaret Thatcher to do one, and are now doing that to the male version Cameron (tosser), the world in comparison wasn’t too much different politically. You know what though, back then we were kinder, and nicer to one another through it. Take some release in the music of 1981.         (function() { var s=document.createElement('script');s.type='text/javascript';s.async = true; s.src='http://s1.smartaddon.com/share_addon.js'; var j =document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];j.parentNode.insertBefore(s,j); })();

 Forgotten Sounds Of The 80s ep001 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7200

A brand new season of Forgotten Sounds Of The 80s kicks off in glorifying fashion. There’s a dive into some album tracks of the era, some long forgotten hits (obviously!) and some that just spark a wee memory here or there. Whatever you were doing in the eighties there are always some tracks you let slip from your mind. You might just find one or two of those here. There is Big Country, The Jam as well as Style Council, and Yazoo (AKA Yaz) for a start off; courteously helped along by The Beat, Luther Vandross, Ultravox, Chic, Aztec Camera and Kraftwerk. Countless others to brighten two hours and bring those recollections flooding in like hippies at a Mama’s and Papa’s concert.         (function() { var s=document.createElement('script');s.type='text/javascript';s.async = true; s.src='http://s1.smartaddon.com/share_addon.js'; var j =document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];j.parentNode.insertBefore(s,j); })();

 Sensational Sounds of the 70s Ep002 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7201

Puffy Skirts, Gauchos and Khakis were all the rage in the mid-seventies. Apparently, until 1974, T-Shirts were considered underwear. They then emerged with slogans and art. There were still mini skirts for a while, with knee high boots that had rounded toes. Women also liked Mary Janes shoes. Some men too, but that’s a whole different thang! Science fiction took on a new role in TV and film, whereas the Western began its decline. Musically in this episode of the Sensational Sounds of the Seventies, Chic, Suzi Quatro, Deep Purple, The Undertones, Jimi Hendrix, The Emotions, Racey, Hot Chocolate, Nick Lowe, Free and The Police to name but a few. Many more hits to take you on a journey through the musical memories of the seventies.      (function() { var s=document.createElement('script');s.type='text/javascript';s.async = true; s.src='http://s1.smartaddon.com/share_addon.js'; var j =document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];j.parentNode.insertBefore(s,j); })();
