 “Loqueesha” with Damona Hoffman | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:41

“Loqueesha” is about a white man who pretends to be a black woman to land a radio advice show job. Lots of people attacked “Loqueesha” when its trailer came out. Some defended it. And Amazon Prime decided to put it on its streaming platform next to “Fleabag” and “Patriot.” It’s a mystery that even Bosch couldn’t solve (slowly). I asked Damona Hoffman, a real African American woman who dispenses wisdom on her popular podcast, “Dates & Mates” to help dismantle this movie.

 Gotti gets whacked! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 44:28

Adam Felber (Nobody Listens to Paula), Susie Felber and I review John Travolta’s bomb, “Gotti” film. Here’s a great article from Deadline about Gotti’s fate as a movie: John Travolta Cries Foul Over “Fake News” Reports On Mafia  Movie ‘Gotti’ EXCLUSIVE: John Travolta told Deadline he is upset that fast-spreading news reports twisted the truth as Lionsgate pulled his upcoming film Gotti off its release calendar 10 days before its bow. He worried the reports marginalized what he considers one of his better performances as the iconic Gambino crime family head John Gotti in the Kevin Connolly-directed film. Given how the subject matter lends itself to phrases from mob movies, it’s easy to see how the blogosphere might speculate this film would, well, sleep with the fishes. The truth is far different, Travolta said. (READ FULL) Related Why John Travolta ‘Gotti’ Pic Shifted Away From Lionsgate Premiere Ten Days Before Its Release

 “Mr. Saturday Night” w/ @AdamFelber | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:37

Billy Crystal, co-wrote, directed, starred and conducted his own Oscar campaign for this movie “Mr. Saturday Night.” It’s about a comedian who steals everyone’s Jackie’s jokes and ends up wearing really bad make up that’s supposed to make you look old. Adam Felber (Wait… Wait… Don’t Tell Me and an alleged podcast with Paula Poundstone) and I dig deep into our love for Billy Crystal and why this film didn’t work for us. Click here to see Felber’s shirt selections Hear more reviews from Felber Hear Nicko and I review “Parental Guidance” Below are photos from “Mr. Saturday Night.” Given his success in the early days of television, you’d  think that Buddy Young Jr. (Billy Crystal) would be coasting happily into retirement alongside his wife, Elaine (Julie Warner). Instead, Buddy is an acerbic blowhard who alienates his brother, Stan (David Paymer), and everyone else who fails to bow to his bullying. His agent, Annie Wells (Helen Hunt), has positioned elderly Buddy for a big movie role, but his irreverence might come back to bite him one last time. Nominations: Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Jump to Awards · Paymer was nominated in 1992 for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance. At the Golden Globe Awards, Paymer was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture and Crystal was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Box office: $13.3 million Release date: September 23, 1992 Budget: $43 million Starring: Billy Crystal; David Paymer; Julie Warner;

 One Minute of Rocky at a Time | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:58

Usually, we review an entire movie. But recently I got to be a guest on “Rocky Minute” The daily podcast in which hosts Doug Greenberg and Jason Hanes knockout the Rocky films one minute at a time. Apparently, Dueling Genre is a whole network of shows that are just people analyzing a movie 60 seconds at a clip. Thanks to past guest and FOH (friend of the host), Paul Sullivan, I got to be on three days in a row. I had a good time. All three episodes are a fun listen. Here are one or two episodes that I was on. Not sure how many I’ll post. But please check them out and take a listen. Here’s a review of “Rocky IV” I did on this show with Adam Felber and Rico Gagliano.

 THE ROOM ACTRESS ROBYN PARIS | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:01

In this interview,” The Room” actress Robyn Paris, opens up about shooting the worst film ever, the awkward premiere and Tommy’s abusive behavior. Robyn claims that director Tommy Wiseau has actively gone out of his way to stop the former stars of his film from profiting from their “The Room” fame.”The Disaster Artist” could not tell everyone’s story of filming “The Room.” Here’s Robyn Paris’ story.   After the second actress playing “Lisa” was fired, Tommy Wiseau promoted Juliette Danielle from a smaller part to the female lead. So Robyn Paris got a frantic phone call from Greg Sestero asking how soon she could be on set. Robyn Paris had less than an hour to get on set, learn her lines and start shooting her infamous role as Michelle, a.k.a. “Chocolate Girl.”  Almost 10 years later the movie has gone mainstream and Robyn has launched a career as a writer/director. Robyn has been able to turn her turn as Michele into a career as a filmmaker. The actress has written and directed the “Funny or Die” web series, “The Room Actors: Where Are They Now? A Mockumentary.”  Support Robyn’s show by joining her Patreon page.  More “The Room” interviews below: Proudly Resents Room Episodes: Sandy Schklair’s first interview: Philip Halderman: Tommy Wiseau: Newcomers review of The Room: Rick Harper, Director of the Room doc, “Room Full of Spoons” More fun stuff: Play “The Room” video game!
