LNIM070 – Farnoosh Brock On Improving Your Day Job | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2025

Today, I've asked Farnoosh Brock to come back on the show.  Every day it seems like I have a conversation with someone about how they want to get into internet marketing because they are trying to get out of their day job.  That makes me wonder how many people are throwing out the baby with the bath water.  After all, most people have invested a lot of time (and blood, sweat, tears, etc) in their day job.  What if people could fix (rather than abandon) their day jobs.   Farnoosh knows a lot about how to get ahead in a corporate job, and shares some tips for those of you that feel stuck. Bella The Dog In the intro, I mentioned baby Bella the dog.  Here is the picture that I promised. Bella and I had a great time recording the show – but I have to teach her not to chew on the $400 microphone. Forever Affiliate and Rankings Institute I've been spending time with Andrew Hansen inside of Rankings Institute.  I am very excited about this product, and will be going through the coaching myself.    As part of the launch promotion, Andrew created a fantastic webinar that outlines what is possible in 2014 using free traffic from the search engines.  You can see that webinar below. Even if you are not interested in the product, you should watch the first 45 minutes of the webinar to see some amazing case studies. Improving Your Day Job The interview with Farnoosh was awesome as usual.  As I mentioned, I wanted to reach listeners that are throwing out the baby with the bath water when it comes to their day job.  Farnoosh knows a lot about how to get ahead in a corporate job, and shares some tips for those of you that feel stuck. There is so much that you can do in your current job, starting tomorrow… The product that I mentioned from Farnoosh is called Crack The Code To Get Promoted. Some ideas that are discussed: * No one will take care of you and your career for you.  Take charge! * You need to have a “giving mentality”. * How her course can return $4000 in benefits to you. The course is based on her extensive personal mentoring experience and over a year of research. You can get a sense of what is possible and the sort of mindset changes that you can make to your existing job by listening to Farnoosh in this interview.  LNIM069 – Andrew Hansen On Forever Affiliate Success Rate | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2309

In this episode, we talk to Andrew Hansen about  Forever Affiliate success rates.  Remember, in  episode 067 I talked a little about the hard truth about affiliate marketing.  In episode 068, we went through several listener responses and questions that came in after episode 067.  Specifically, we addressed stuff like whether or not people can actually make money online, why the failure rate seems to be so high, and what the reasons for that failure might be. In this episode, we hear what Andrew has to say. Leave Us A Review In iTunes Thanks so much for your reviews on iTunes. Episode 069 Transcript As promised, I have for you today an interview with Andrew Hansen regarding Forever Affiliate live from London. Well, not exactly live. Andrew is in London, but the time difference is such that I had to interview him in the middle of the night in Dallas time. It was 4:00 in the morning. I wanted to ask him these questions that we’ve been asking. It’s just that he’s a little hard to get a hold of these days because he’s working on a new product that complements Forever Affiliate with an increased focus on search engine optimization. I’m going to host a webinar about that next week. You can find out more about that at LateNightIM.com/andrewwebinar. Until that time, I have an interview with Andrew for you where we continue this discussion about Forever Affiliate. Does it work? What has he observed? For the people who fail, why do they fail? What does he think about that? I ask him these hard questions for a product creator. Full disclosure, you have a guy who made money selling a product being interviewed by a guy who made money promoting a product. Let’s just get that out there on the table. Another piece of full disclosure is that Andrew is a friend of mine.

Episode 068 Transcript I hope that you’re having an absolutely fantabulous 2014. That’s a word I made up just for you; fantabulous. In case you’ve forgotten, I’m your host Mark Mason from the Late Night Internet Marketing Podcast, broadcasting from a little studio right here near Dallas, Texas. I hope you had a great holiday and you are off to an amazing start with whatever you have planned for 2014. I personally am not off to such an amazing start. A lot of you who follow me on Facebook and on Twitter know that I’ve been down with some kind of viral bugamungus. As you know, I have lots of kids. I blame them, they’re basically human petri dishes. They go to school, they collect germs and then bring them home to my house. It has just been rough. Since about January 3rd I started having some symptoms and it started knocking me back, and then I got really sick the last week. But I am in really great shape now, I’d say I’m back at 87.2% of full running capacity, and that’s good enough to get this show up and off the ground. I have huge plans for 2014. This show is going to be a weekly show. I know I’ve been saying that. I’m still committed to it, I haven’t accomplished it yet. As I’ve told you, one of the things about internet marketing is you just have to keep pushing until you get these things done.

LNIM067 – Forever Affiliate Update And The Hard Truth About Making Money Online | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2263

In this episode, I take a look the results of an informal survey that I did of people the bought Forever Affiliate through my link. Did they think the course was valuable (the answer was YES). Did they take action and follow through? Did they make money with their sites? I ask some hard questions in this episode, and I don't pull punches. I also address some feedback from a listener that wants to know if he can really make money online to support his family. Awesome review from Farnoosh Brock on iTunes.  Thanks Farnoosh!  I'd love to hear what you think about the show.  Got a second?  Leave a review here. Can You Replace Your Income With An Online Business One listener writes in (we call him KB).  His goal is to work at home on the internet, and is currently completely debt-free.  Is it possible for him to make $3000/month?  Can it be done?  This simple answer is yes — it can be done.  Is it easy?  Nope.  I discuss this at length. Hi Mark, Just signed up for your newsletter, listening to your podcast while I'm writing this message. I am new to all this. My goal is to work at home on the internet. I have worked really hard to lower my financial needs in order to do this. My wife and I are completely debt free….we purchased a mobile home for $8000 cash and I spent the last 7 months remodeling it (looks brand new now.) Our cars are paid for. No credit card debt. We do have 3 daughters (ages 11-14) and obviously still need income, but I have positioned myself so that we could get by comfortably with $2500-3000 per month. We could get-by on less, but that is what it would take to be comfortable. Here is my question….can I do this? Can I put together niche websites that could earn this much? I don't mind putting in the work. I just want to know if this can be done? I have 1 site started… xxxxxxxxxxx let me know what you think? I appreciate your time. Your newest fan, KB   I mention the Security Guard Training site that Pat built in this segment. I also talk about this old income survey that I did. The bottom line is that it is possible to make a full time income on line.  But a lot more people fail than succeed.    We discuss the things that can change the Was Forever Affiliate A Good Investment? You will always see lots of people promoting make money online programs like Forever Affiliate.  But seldom will you see people try the program themselves.  And even fewer people will follow up with the people that bought the program and determine if it created results.  We talk about both in this episode. Tough questions — tough answers.   Leave Us A Review In iTunes Thanks so much for your reviews on iTunes. We get a ton of exposure from iTunes, and we really appreciate the reviews there.  LNIM066 – The Sermon And A Guy Named John (no, not THAT John) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2710

A couple of months ago, my old friend Scott wrote me to let me know that he mentioned me and some things that I said in the show in a sermon.  Today, I finally tell that story.   I also talk about the current state of the corn sheller site and we discuss the situation of a listener named John — a guy that has lost everything and is looking to start over with internet marketing at age 61. Huge shout-out to my friend Matt for starting off the show with something that is known is Dallas as a “BaD radio liner”. BaD (Bob and Dan) Radio airs on 1310AM “The Ticket” in Dallas, and is a huge sports-talk radio show (and Bob has a great sports blog too). Really famous people make “liners” for the show and claim that they never listen. Very cool stuff.  Thanks Matt! Corn Sheller Update The corn sheller site has been consistently getting about 200 page views a day for some time now.  That translates into about 600o page views a month.  You can see the stats here: So, we know that traffic is still getting to the blog.  Then the question is what is happening to the traffic on the blog?  Is it still reaching eBay?  Well, the answer is “yes” — more than ever before.  But the traffic reaching eBay is not really converting. So — the ultimate question is why is this happening, and what should we do?   The Sermon For months I have been promising to tell the story about my friend Scott that mentioned me and some stuff that I say in the blog in his sermon.  Well, today is the day that I finally tell the story, and there is a business lesson for all of us. I Lost Everything – A Guy Named John Finally, I got this message from a guy named John.  We talk about it. Mark, I am desperately in need of an internet or passive income to prepare for my retirement. I am 61 years old and have absolutely nothing to rely on…. I have lost everything and now have No pension, no savings nothing… and am doing agency work which is very unreliable, not to mention intimidating. Quite sad but it is all my own fault… wrong decision…greed…credit crunch… Now, I need a solution and I see that for some reason or another you are very willing to help people establish their online business. Thank you and I would seriously like to take you up on that. Liquid finances are a bit low but  I trust you will not make me spend unnecessary money. I have a Hostgator account and also a GoDaddy one. My previous company was …. I would like to start an Amazon affiliate business and thought I should ask your advice, hoping you would be kind enough to guide me. Maybe you have a better idea/s. What I really would like is help to create a website that will earn me, say, a minimum of ten dollars/pounds per month. Once that is done successfully I can just repeat it (about a hundred times)… Well that's all for now Hoping to hear from you at your earliest convenience… thanks in advance John Naturally, I have some advice for John.  LNIM063 – The Value Of Mastermind Groups For Entrepreneurs | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1759

Either way, they are depriving you of some incredibly powerful information. In this episode we will talk about this issue and take some cool listener feedback as well. If you are in a corporate job and dream about walking out the door to do you own thing, this interview is for you.  Today, I have Farnoosh Brock on the show, and she has some amazing insight about life, work, and how to turn negative job energy into something positive.  This is one of those “Ah Ha” interviews that will really help you if you are looking to transition out of your current situation. Love Me Some Farnoosh! I've known Farnoosh Brock for a couple of years now, and her success online has been fun to watch.  She is a Dynamo — proof positive that juicing makes you super-human (Farnoosh is a author and expert on Juicing in addition to her many other talents). In this interview, Farnoosh tells her own story about her exit from Corporate America.  Her tale will enlighten and delight you.  One of the best things she talks about is that little voice that keeps saying “I can't do that”.  She explains why you “owe it to your self” to figure this all out.  LNIM060 – Backlinking Ethics and Using Link Spam In Your Business | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3167

The question for today is around backlinking ethics.  Search engine rankings mean money, and money is a strong motivator.  When that motivation results in creating thousands of pages of garbage content for the purpose of gaining backlinks, you have to ask the question:  Is that OK?  Do the ends (profit) justify the means?  Or, should we always try to make the Internet a better place?  We explore that topic, chat with Cliff Ravenscraft, and give a great tool tip and more, all in this episode of the Late Night Internet Marketing Podcast. New Show Music Shout-out to Mike and Izabela at Music Radio Creative.  They have tweaked the show music and stingers and taken the whole thing to the next level.  I also got a new preamp that I am really digging.   It's the Golden Age Project Pre73 MKII Microphone Preamp, and I love it.  I hope you like it too. Reply From Cliff Last week, I asked Dan Miller about indirect passion, and I used Cliff Ravenscraft as an example.  Cliff head that interview and offered a reply.  His thoughts on the topics of passion are motivating, so I included them in the episode. The Ethics Of Backlinking So, there was recently a post from Glen on ViperChill that talked about how link spam still works despite Google's best efforts.  I agree with most of what is in that post, and it aligns well with my own observations. The most latest is When Wisdom Meets Passion, which is a book that he wrote with his son. Probably his most famous book was a New York Times Bestseller, which is 48 Days to the Work You Love.  LNIM058 – How To Do Niche Keyword Research (Part 2 — Keyword Competition) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3059

This is the much-awaited second part of 2-part series on how to do niche keyword research.  In this episode, we talk about how to judge competition, and apply the 80/20 rule to our keyword analysis.  But before we get into that, I talk a little bit about where I've been in the last few weeks, and where the show is headed.  Finally, I have a tool tip for you.  It's a mind mapping too that I have been using to plan the show. This Week Around Late Night IM It's been a while since my last podcast.  I've been working on some day job projects as lot's of changes around work have been demanding most of my attention.  I've also been a little lazy this summer.  Special thanks to all of those that have come looking for me.  Good news — this may be my last “big break” from podcasting ever.  More on that is this episode as I discuss my plans for the future of Late Night Internet Marketing. One cool things is my new main list (Auto Responder) content — launching soon.  Check it out today by signing up in the sidebar to the right.  New content launches July 20th, 2013 (so sign up now). Internet Marketing News Of course some big news since the last time we talked is the closure of Google Reader.  We discuss that, what a feed reader is good for, why Google Reader closed, that my favorite alternative — Feedly. How To Do Niche Keyword Research (Part 2) Our main topic for this episode is How To Do Niche Keyword Research.  This is part two of a two part series.  In the first part (episode 057) we discussed how to find potential keywords, and how to determine their popularity.  In this episode, we'll talk about how to judge the competition.  In other words, will we be able to rank for the keywords that we found in part one. When analyzing competition, I usually apply the 80/20 rule.  Where SEO is concerned, the 80/20 rule means that you really need to look at back links when judging competition.  We discuss that (and how to determine the number of back links) in some detail in the episode. Internet Marketing Tools We also talk about this week's internet marketing tool — iThoughtsHD.  It's the tool that I am using to outline the show.  Mind maps are a a great way to organize your thoughts, and also make great speaking notes for podcasting. You can see the mind map for this episode here:  An Outline Of The Episode   Banter * I'm back * On the road in a undisclosed location with Dick Cheney * Thanks to all came looking for me * Big job changes and a summer break * Might be my last big break ever * Server attack * Big plans for LNIM * Ultimate resource on the Internet for content based affiliate marketing * Best (most loved) Internet marketing podcast * Most valuable AutoReponder in Internet marketing. * Lead by example – working sites that make money * New methodology for time management * Considering releasing an entire product on how to run an internet business part time. * FA update to follow – slow progress * New AutoReponder.  LNIM057 – How To Do Niche Keyword Research (Part 1) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2124

In this episode, we finally get to that keyword research summary that I have been promising.  We also sum up listener reaction to episode 056.  Big fun from Kuala Lumpur!  All this and more! This Week Around Late Night IM This episode was actually recorded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  What a great trip.  As you can hear from the audio quality, recording in a hotel room is not great (but beats no recording at all).  I had awesome Dim Sum at a place called Din Tai Fung in KL.  It's my favorite place (they have locations throughout Asia.) How To Do Niche Keyword Research (Part 1) In the last several episodes, we've touched on several aspects of how to do keyword research, but they have all been in bits and pieces. In episode 049 I discussed some things to consider when dealing with the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. In episode 053, we talked about finding Niche Keywords and in episode 054 we touched on Niche Keyword Competition. In this episode, I try to pull it all together for you in a way that hopefully will make some sense. When you are doing keyword research, you basically need to do three things * Understand what you are trying to accomplish * Figure out which what keywords are popular * Understand how hard it will be to rank for those keywords How to do Keyword research One note: A lot of times when I say “keyword” I really mean “keyword phrase”. It's the words that people type into Google when the are looking for something. Increasingly, the search engine is not only Google, but also Bing/Yahoo and other engines as well. Another thing to note is that web search is not the only kind of search. Other really large search engines include YouTube and iTunes. Amazon is another one (but you don't have any control over that one really). There is a very cool infographic on SearchEngineLand that gives a pretty good overview of keyword research. We can adapt that model for affiliate marketing and add to it to come up with a process for keyword research. 1. Determine Your Goal Figure out what you are trying to do. What action do you want the searcher to take when he comes to your site from the search engine. This is called conversion. You want to “convert” a visitor into something else — a subscriber, a facebook fan, a customer, etc. Usually with affiliate marketing you are trying get traffic to your site with the hope that the visitor will click a link and buy a product that you are promoting. In the case of the corn sheller site I am ranking for several corn sheller related keyword phrases. One is buy corn sheller online. Clearly, my goal for that keyword (and most other keywords on that site) is for people to end up on eBay and make a purchase. Another common example might be converting someone to your email list. 2. Brainstorm for keywords You need to know what people are actually typing into the search engines. There are tools that can help you discover that, but it helps if you will start by imagining what you might type if you were the searcher. * Put yourself in the mind of the searcher * Consider the commercial intent of the keywords if appropriate * Put your list into the Google Keyword Tool * Think about the long tail. Here is what SEOMoz has to say about the long tail… It's wonderful to deal with keywords that have 5,000 searches a day, or even 500 searches a day, but in reality, these “popular” search terms actually make up less than 30% of the searches performed on the web.

 LNIM056 – How To Handle Customer Feedback | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2389

In this episode, we talk about how to handle customer feedback when we address some feedback from listener Jack.  We also chat more about the corn sheller site and dive into a funk with listener Shawn.  All this and more! You gotta love that. This Week Around Late Night IM As many of you know that follow me on Facebook, I am currently traveling from Dallas to Malaysia, and I got stuck in LAX because I missed my connection.  Since I was stuck in a hotel room anyway, I decided to record this episode — and I was motivated by the main topic of handling customer feedback.  This was both because I was around a lot of angry customers at the airport last night, and because I got some great feedback from listener Jack. Listener Feedback From Jack Here is what listener Jack had to say: I am right along with pat flynn and hope you are to regarding constructive criticism and would hope along the lines that people do the same to me with criticism. Just an FYI, your intro is way too long, you lost me at 20 seconds I didn't even listen to your conversation with Pat Flynn. Sounded somewhat negative and brought out a negative side of Pat. Way too much fluff, get to the point of your conversation already. Bad Bill Clinton impersonation too. I can appreciate you wanting to keep things interesting, but I'm here for information. Great website though. Looks professional. Please don't take this the wrong way, just as critiquing. Good luck with your site. Wish you all the best. I thought that was some pretty good feedback — and I want to know what you think about it.  I use the opportunity to handle this feedback in the way that I think you should handle feedback in your business:  with kindness and an open mind. Corn Sheller Update I put AdSense on the corn sheller site, and the result was not great.  I report my results and explain what the problem is.  It has to do with the difference between the Search Network and the Content Network Shawn's Funk Finally, we hear about listener Shawn's funk and what I think he should do about it.  Maybe that funk advice will help you.  Maybe not.  But either way, you get to hear the cool funk music from episode 041 again, and that's cool.  The cool music is from Beau Hall and it is call No Sleep Funk.
