Radio Happy Hour

It’s taken a little while, we know. But we’re finally delivering the podcast version of the final episode of Radio Happy Hour. The truth is we’re just finally, two months later, recovering from the massive hangover from that show. It was great, and it was truly fantastic to see so many friends at the show to celebrate the show with us, and it warmed our nether-regions that so many past guests decided to come back and join us for the final shin dig. The guests in this episode include Twin Sister, Mike Doughty, Franz Nicolay, Matt Pond PA, John & Molly Knefel, Arthur Phillips, Dave Hill, Max Silvestri, Gabe Liedman, Arden Myrin, Murray Hill, William Ocean, and more.

This is a little episode we call "Selling Out." See it's the penultimate episode of Radio Happy Hour, and we tried to make the show keep working by selling tons of ads for the show, but that didn't really...well...you'll see. We didn't have room for a murder mystery because we sold the whole show to advertisers. The real losers were our guests, who didn't get to be accused of murder at all. Nonetheless we convinced Sun Airway, Hank & Cupcakes, and Jared Logan to sell out with us. And our pals John & Molly Knefel came along to do a little selling out of their own.

In episode #18 the Radio Happy Hour crew returns to Manhattan, Minnesota. Sam’s tending bar at The Ascot while Franz Nicolay does taxes for the town. Arden Myrin joins them for a drink before Michael Dukakis and Michele Bachmann wander into the Ascot and someone winds up dead. It’s the political thriller Clive Owen turned down, Episode #18 of Radio Happy Hour, “The Tax Murderer.”

Sam winds up as a professional wrestling ref in Montana in a bout between The Shakespearean Punisher (Arthur Phillips), his manager Dave Hill, Rusty Trombone, and Osama bin Droppin' Elbows. But Osama's manager, Elizabeth Ziman of Elizabeth & the Catapult has some startling news at the opening of the bout

Juan from Abe Vigoda and Marcellus Hall join the Radio Happy Hour crew and Sam's detective agency as they are invited to billionaire comedian Ted Alexandro's home to investigate a murder.

Suckers, Tim Kasher, Arden Myrin, and Joe Mande join the Radio Happy Hour crew as they get snowed in at an office holiday party. Only the person who invited them might be a ghost. And Tim Kasher slept with her. Gross.

Norah Jones and Gabe Liedman join Sam and the Radio Happy Hour crew at a space camp in Luck, WI. All seems kosher until Cosmonaut Yvgeny Bonerman's wife turns up dead. Also look out for the surprise appearance from Cloud Cult.

Listen as VPs David Bazan and Max Silvestri try to solve the murder of the company CEO with devilish consultant Jesse Eisenberg.

Sam and the Radio Happy Hour crew are caught in the middle of another murder. This time they are on a waterfall cruise boat when a CEO blows up and they have to solve the case along with Luke from Born Ruffians, director Andrew Bujalski (Mutual Appreciation, Beeswax), and comedian and 30 Rock writer Hannibal Buress. Look for the extras online featuring comedians Ted Alexandro and Ali Wong.

Listen as Josh Grier (Tapes 'n Tapes) coaches a rough housing class for criminals. Someone nearly beats Chris Koza to death with a bag of doorknobs, Jeremy Messersmith begrudgingly saves him, and Geoff Herbach proves how powerful his haunches are.
