Summary: The Edge Festival brings together over 50 acts playing live at gigs across Edinburgh during August. This podcast features previews, interviews and live recordings made by Radio Magnetic, from The Edge Festival. Gigs take place in Edinburgh's best live music venues: Cabaret Voltaire, the Corn Exchange, the Playhouse, HMV Picture House, Sneaky Pete's, Studio 24, The City Nightclub and The Queen's Hall. Throughout this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe, you can see: Amanda Palmer, Andrew Bird, Biffy Clyro, Boyz Noise, Broken Records, Calvin Harris, Carolina Liar, David Byrne, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Enter Shikari, Faith No More, Foy Vance, Frank Turner, Frightened Rabbit, Ian Broudie, Jeffrey Lewis and The Junkyard, Magazine, Malcolm Middleton, Metric, Mumford and Sons, N-Dubz, Soma Records showcase featuring The Black Dog live, Starsailor, The Bluetones. The Juan Maclean, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, The Stranglers, The Streets, Young Fathers and Unicorn Kid. The Edge Festival was launched last year by DF Concerts, who have promoted a programme of live music at the Edinburgh Festival for ten years. This year they've invited Radio Magnetic to record selected shows and profile some of the performers. Lovvers, Divorce and The Elvis Suicide are three of the most promising underground bands in the UK right now and we were lucky enough to catch them at their gig as part of The Edge Festival at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh. After electrifying performances from all three bands we pinned down Chris from The Elvis Suicide for a chat about punk inspirations, performing live and the venue for the night’s music, Sneaky Pete’s. For fans of the 17 year old electro musician this was a chance to hear his single Lion Hat (named after his trademark headgear) live. Lion Hat been getting rave reviews and massive mainstream radio coverage since its release earlier this year. His popularity is such that pop legends, The Pet Shop Boys, asked Oliver Sabin to remix their track Did You See Me Coming for a 12″ vinyl release on major label Parlophone.
