Hindi Urdu Lives show

Hindi Urdu LivesJoin Now to Follow

The Hindi Urdu Flagship at the University of Texas at Austin has the fortune of regularly hosting well-known Hindi-Urdu scholars and artists. In addition, HUF faculty and contacts often cross paths with notables in the Hindi-Urdu world while travelling nationally or visiting South Asia. The HUF team makes a conscious effort to steal some time during each of these visits in order to record the artist's or scholar's thoughts on their work, various aspects of Hindi-Urdu, and the world of language in general. The hope is to capture a wide variety of native speakers in 'full-flow' and to a catch glimpse of the various intellectual and artistic worlds which use Hindi-Urdu as their medium. Produced by the Hindi Urdu Flagship at The University of Texas at Austin. Visit for more Hindi-Urdu learning materials.

Hindi: A Spoken ThesaurusJoin Now to Follow

Which word is the best fit for a particular meaning and context? How do I express everyday ideas in colloquial language, avoiding the bookish style found in dictionaries? What’s the actual difference in meaning between the ‘synonyms’ that dictionaries offer? How do I build up phrases and sentences around a particular word? The Hindi Thesaurus addresses such questions in a series of lively, unscripted Hindi-medium conversations about groups of words of related meaning. Concentrating on selected mainstream words and phrases, we help you to broaden your active vocabulary by encountering styles of language appropriate for everyday speech. The conversations are between Rupert Snell (Hindi teacher and perpetual Hindi learner) and Neha Ladha (mother-tongue speaker of Hindi). Glossaries for each podcast can be read online or downloaded in PDF format at
