First Peoples Disability Network (Australia) is a national organisation of and for Australia’s First Peoples with disability, their families and communities. Its purpose is to promote respect for human rights, secure social justice, and empower First Peoples with disability to participate in Australian society on an equal basis with others. We are the custodians of the narratives of First Peoples with disability, their families and communities and we recognise this important responsibility. Because ours is an oral history, we continue this by recognising the value of our peoples’ narratives and collecting this as data, which informs our work and the work of others.

THERE IS MUCH MORE TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS THAN THE SUMMER GAMES AND THE POLAR BEAR PLUNGE! Brave In The Attempt Maryland is a series of podcasts that focuses on the athletes of Special Olympics Maryland, their families, and their friends. Our mission is to show that these amazing athletes are not only Special Olympic athletes, but your neighbors, your co-workers, and a part of your community. We will be talking with athletes from around the state and learning more about them in their every day lives. We will give them the opportunity to tell their own story, in their own words. We will also be looking at the many programs that make up the world of Special Olympics. Many athletes have taken on our Leadership programs, many work closely with law enforcement around the world for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, and others get involved in many, many more programs that help shape them into model citizens. If there is an athlete that you think would like to tell their story, please contact us and we will arrange everything. Please enjoy these inspirational stories from the athletes of Special Olympics Maryland.
