I am curently using a cheap $15 microphone and my recordings have a really noisy&ugly background. I don't know what's the cause of this: the cheap microphone, the sound card or the software I'm using to record.
If it is the microphone, could you guys recommed a good one, in the $50-$100 price range? I am not looking for something very professional, but something better than you average microphone. Really appreciate your help. |

When I try using a gamer type mic and going into the mic line line on my computer, I get similar poor performance.
I wanted something better, but since I was learning I wanted to buy inexpensive stuff I could try and then upgrade from there I found I needed a usb interface, a low end mixer, a mic stand and an ok mic. I tried the Alesis usb multimix( a mixer/usb interface combined for $149), but the one the retailer sent didn't work. The retailer didn't have any more of those in stock, so I returned it and got an edirol usb interface UA-1EX ($79) and a Behringer UB802 mixer for $50. I bought an inexpensive Nady SP-5 mic for $20. I also bought a desktop mic stand for about $15 and then some cables for another $20. It is over your budget some, but this set up worked for me. I am now looking at getting portable recorder to add to the mix - probably the samson zoom h4 and some countryman mics
